Replacing Fuel Gas Cap and Ignition Switch
#1
Hello, I have a FZS600 Fazer Foxeye from 2002 (5RT1), but the ignition switch needs to be replaced because its worn and the key struggles to turn.
I want to be replace it as a set to be able to use the same key for both the gas cap as the ignition switch once replaced.

However here in the Netherlands I can't find any ignition switch + gas cap set for the 2002 model, but there is one available for the 2001 model.
Is there any difference in these two parts? The part# are different for both models, but they look very similar if not the same if you ask me.

Part# for FZS600 2001:
Ignition Switch: 4NA825010200
Fuel Gas Cap: 4HM246020100

Part# for FZS600 2002:
Ignition Switch: 5LV825011000
Fuel Gas Cap: 39P246020000

Thanks for any help Smile

Both these locks and the problem with them being difficult to turn is a well known old issue.  What often works is a good clean out with something like WD40, flood them, then dry them out with brake cleaner, finally a good dose of dry grafite.  When you use each the trick is don't push too hard and turn slowly with a slight up and down motion to get a better feel.

Give that a try first, before you go the replacement route as that can be very costly and difficult, many pattern replacements either don't work, cause ignition faults or just fail in very short order.
