Meirion's Fazer Pages
#1
Anyone remember the very start of FOC-U? It must have been some time in the late 90s when I started "Meirion's Fazer Pages". It was all very basic but I added a very basic forum that seemed to get quite popular. There were many suggestions about starting an owners club so myself and, I think, DaveB, came up with the name FOC-U, Fazer Owners Club-Unofficial. That's when the fun started for real with ride outs, Welsh rip-ups, track days, Spring meets etc.,etc.
I'm now a bit of an old fart but am back on a Fazer 1000 and having fun again.  Cool

I've managed to find a handful of the "old" crowd on Facebook so if you look for Meirion Matthias on FB, do a request.

I didn't join until August 2007 when I passed my Direct Access and bought my FZ6, a decision I've never regretted

Well I think I sold my last Fazer in about 2003 after my young teenaged daughter shamed me as being selfish by risking my life at a trackday in Anglesey. She couldn't cope with watching me be a lunatic so I sold up. Back on a Fazer thou now that all the kids are sorted  Big Grin

My first post was in Jan 2012 but I was a member before that but cant remember when. My first post mentions that I was a member of the "old forum". I brought the bike in 2001 so it would of been sometime after that. So was there a new forum between my getting the bike in 2001 and my first post in the "new " forum in 2012
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Fazersharp, 2001 is quite early because I think I started things in 1999'ish. The first forum was my very basic free version that I found. The lads that took the site over from me when it all started to get more technical than I could manage made a new forum and the current one is the newest I think. I could very well be wrong on it but that's my recollection anyway .
BBROWN1664, 2002 or 3 was probably the forum version after I had handed over I reckon. It all grew very quickly in the early days.

I joined somewhere around 2004, I forgot the name of the platform the forum was on then, but it moved twice before coming here, Tcat was admin back then and Jake the Cat did the photo hosting on a private server. Seems so very long ago now. I know most of the old crew joined the Facebook group about 10 years ago or so, but I gave up social media of all types years ago, so I'm well out of the loop. You were a Legend already when I joined Meirion Smile

Yes, wow, TCat, that's a blast from the past for me. Not sure that I was a legend, more of a pain in the arse to be honest.

Hi all. I've been around here since 2002 but mostly skulking over in the Thou section. I sold my Thou in 2019, a year or so before moving back to the UK from Spain. I've been bike-less since then until last Friday when I picked up a Tracer 9GT+. To be honest, I was bricking it on the first ride - 5 years is a long time and this was first time out on UK roads since 2004. Four hours and 140 miles later, all was well. Great to be riding again. Smile

Meirion, I think I'm right in saying we met when I did one of my 'Ivanising' trips over in your neck of the woods. You and the originals here certainly started something that has lasted well and stood the test of time. Nice one!

Yes, that was it, mate.  Was it you who went for a 'short test ride' and didn't come back for about two hours?  Laugh I was concerned you'd broken down but you were enjoying yourself around most of north Wales!  Don't remind me how long ago that was, though ...  Wink
