Anyone with MCE?
#1
Just got an email from MCE telling me my policy will no longer be valid after 31st Jan as they are in administration, which is at odds to what they said originally (policies will remain until renewal) it also basically says if you want a refund you are probably going to have to fight for it, which is a bit shit as mine expires in September.

Ironically a quick MCN comparison search puts MCE as the best quote, so if you are in the market for insurance steer clear of them!

It might not be the same people.

As the article above says "MCE Insurance Company sold a range of motor products, including motorbike, private car, and van insurance, through broker MCE Insurance Ltd. Both firms are part of the same parent group but it is only the insurance arm that has gone under, not the brokering service."

Now I'm over my rage as above the UK company are a separate broker and presumably they are using different underwriters. Still pissed off with the company though as I can't get a quote anywhere near what my original policy was as it's too close to the expiry date to get the best deal!

I also received an email saying all policies will be disclaimed as of end Jan 22, and to claim a refund from the receiver (yeah right) I wouldn't trust the uk arm of mce either they are likely to go bottom up any time, all you can do is suck it up and get a new quote elsewhere as you've got a slim to none chance of getting refunded, let's face it insurance companies have zero ethics anyway everybody knows that already.

For those that don't already know Isle of Man government is a corporation leased from the crown so usual laws don't apply, and for that matter the crown itself is a corporation along with the uk government, all police authorities and every other government institution you care to mention, you can find them all listed on Companies House if you care to look

This was briefly mentioned on the Martin Lewis show on tv last night. Pretty sure he said people should expect a 90% refund pro rata on outstanding period of insurance. Also to expect a 90% payout if you’ve got a claim being processed.

I've just signed up with another broker, the uk arm of mce is still offering quotes but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I'm not even going to bother chasing a refund, I can earn more money in the time I waste on the phone, one of the benefits of being an old git is cheap insurance, at the end of the day all insurance companies are a bunch of lying crooks but unfortunately a necessary evil, good luck to all of you who were with mce IOM ?

it's the new underwriters who've decided to not recognise policies from the previous underwriter, Apparently refunds will be sorted after the policy ceases on jan 29.
All the info is on the mce website.

Couldn't happen to a better company.. bunch of fucking arseholes.

They refused to recover my bike home when I had a rear blowout as... and I quote several managers, including a senior one: "I haven't bothered to use my spare wheel which should be done in the first instance"

Many complaints and fighting later, I got a refund, a payout, my phone bill paid and my pregnant Mrs got a bunch of flowers and sorry for upsetting her!

Obviously, sorry to whose are having to shell out for more insurance... try Bemoto.. been with them for 7 years now and happy with their service and cover.
