Spark plug caps needed, Gen1 Thou!
#1
Hi, has anyone got any good condition spark plug caps for a Gen1 1000 for sale?
Servicing my bike showed up some distinctly dodgy caps! ?
Andy.

Sorted now! Missed the set Pie Eater linked to but found some others!
No NGK caps are suitable, OEM are crazy £ so used parts is the only way to go!

You can remove the internals and clean them, as you get corrosion on the tiny brass plate, spring and internal connection to the screwin part. The internal connecton part I clean with a sharpened long bladed screwdriver. I replace  the Carbon resistor which can be prone to failure with the wire wound ones in the NGK caps. Unfortunately is usually means breaking open the NGK caps, but an NGK cap is a lot cheaper than OEM caps.

But the NGK caps wont seal against the cam cover, so you has better make sure the plug gallery drain holes are clean.

My comment was only in response to NGK spark-plug caps only, not anything you previously posted fella.

NGK caps WILL NOT seal against the cam cover, so as a result water WILL get into the plug galleries. Which is something that all FZS1000 owners should be aware of.

Meanwhile.......... :rolleyes

Fitted a full s/h set of coils, leads & caps from Fleabay.....bike now running slightly reluctantly at certain revs!  Sad
As my only problem was broken plug caps I think the s/h coils may be dodgy so I'll put my originals back & just use the Fleabay plug caps!

No such thing as an easy job!  :\
