So what 3rd party items are fitted to the bike atm?
  • heated grips, model/make? - if oxford if wired per instructions there are connected direct to the battery and if worn/faulty could cause what your describing.
  • Any other engine/fueling dongles..?
If you have a bunch of 3rd items connected to the battery terminals, the foillowing thread will help -

no heated grips...... no alarm...... no usb socket........ the only current draw should be the instrument cluster timekeeping function

No idea then unfortunatly, is the parasitic draw causing an issue?

On the subject of the battery a number of owners (myself included) have found the motobatt to have very good standby.

2 mA will be ok. Would take weeks to drain battery at that rate.

1 or 2mA - probably just the clock keeping time.
With a 12AH (not sure whats on the 1000) battery, that will take 12,000 hours (500 days) to go completely flat but more like 2-3 months before you couldn't start the bike if you don't leave it on a trickle charger.

If its going flat after a week, it may suggest the battery is knackered.

As the others have suggested it might be the battery, how old is it? and have to tried buying a battery re-conditioner..?
I bought this of amazon, as it was recommended to me by a local bike shop that I trust -

thanks everybody...... new battery it is then...... i use an optimate, but was recommended not to leave battery constantly connected to a charger/conditioner, although the manufacturers of these battery chargers say its ok to leave them connected, but thats another can of worms.

if 2ma is good then i'm happy that i've got no old wireing problems causing h/r short ccts anywhere in the loom

cheers
