Is this the best standard paint job on any bike ever?
#1
If not what is? Kind of related to the cool bike thread, can a paint job make a bike cool/cooler?

Yep it's pretty damn good :thumbup .

What year is that Fireblade?. I'm guessing late 90's?. IMHO that period either side of the millenium produced the best looking Japanese bikes of all, even before taking the colour schemes into consideration.

Is this the best standard paint job on any bike ever? No.  But it's not bad.  And it is celebrated and seen as iconic.  I'm just not it's biggest fan.

1994, not long after the fox eye headlamp.
I always loved the very early twin round lamps, but folks want silly money for them now.

The one with the under-seat silencer was a cracking looking bike too. You're right about the prices for the early ones. Bonkers.

Back in the good old 2-stroke days a mate of mine had one of the first new RGV 250's in the classic Suzuki blue/white colours.

Within 6 months he'd decided to get it resprayed in a hideous fluorescent green/pink scheme which began fading almost immediately. It was heart-breaking to see such vandalism :'(

This was my round headlight 'blade.  I always preferred this scheme to the urban tiger one TBH

Not a bad bike, I wouldn't say they were as great as they were made out to be

Iconic colour scheme, that Urban tiger.  8) A bike that needs to be kept totally original plus with mint graphics. Classic status.
All the 900RR's of a similar era appear to retain high resale values.

Nice bike.
Some of the paint jobs through the 90’s were horrendous.  The fireable certainly suffered a few.
This must be one of the worst;[Image: Honda%20CBR900RR%2099%20%202.JPG]

In general I think the majority of Fireblade paint jobs have been poor. The urban tiger has become a classic, and does work, but who on earth would choose brown for the colour of their tank. When I bought my blade, I didn't really like any of the 3 colour options and chose the one I disliked the least. It was the bike I wanted, but wished it looked as sharp as the offerings from Yam/Kawa/Suzuki.

I dunno, I think they hit the nail on the head with this one.....

Just think it took 5 more years after this for the body work to catch up. The 2006 Fireblade is still a dream bike of mine

It is nice, but I think a 2006 R1 in Java red beats it.
never look down on anyone unless you're helping them up.

I always thought the best looking R1 was the 2003 in silver.  Can't find photo that does it justice mind you.

The 80's and 90's was a time of bad taste and often dodgy paint jobs.

Now and agian the Japanese could nail it though;
