Chain & Sprocket Replacement
#1

It's time I replaced my chain and sprockets. I would like to stick to standard gearing and a rubber absorbed front sprocket.

What is the best way to achieve this, buy each component separately or buy a kit? O ring or X ring? Comments please.

Hiya,
I spent a fair bit of time deliberating over the various choices. In the end I went for a genuine, but expensive, Yamaha front sprocket, an Afam rear as I wanted it in black, and a gold DID ZVM X chain. M&P had a discount deal on the chain. I did consider the Ognibene sprockets, which have the rubber absorbers front and back, and would have been quite cheaper than my choice. Good luck, there's plenty of choices to make :lol .

Thanks Robbo, can you advise what size chain you bought, 520 or 520 and how many links?

I've looked up a gold ZVM C chain at £86.92. JD do a rubber absorbed from sprocket for £14.

I bought a full set onpff one supplier, the highest rated did chain possible. I also got an endless chain and just removed the swinger to fit it. No need for cutting or riveting a chain.

Stock gearing of 16t front and 44t rear is 116 links, but the chain is a 530 not 520. The DID ZVM X would be around the 100 quid mark. Have a look at Bike Torque Racing, they offer a few chain/sprocket options.

Bought the DID acting chain, Renthal alloy rear sprocket and a JT front sprocket with the runner insert. All fitted this morning. Original front sprocket has a lump missing from one of the teeth, the chain was very badly worn!!
