Exhaust repair
#1
My 03 fazer comes with stainless downpipes but the collector is steel so rusts away! So i decided to repair it with stainless!
Cut out corroded parts and replaced as shown.

I usually find loading one or two at a time is the most the system will take.
Laborious but you get there in the end.
Take a deep breath, coz it all starts now, when you pull the foccin' pin

I'd be interested in seeing those pictures! What kind of welder did you use? I'd love a TIG welder

the jig was a half hour job to ensure things stayed in same place. it was tig welded on the repair with stainless filler rod. took about 4-5 hrs in total then a can of heat resistant matt black!
saved me a lot of money and i enjoyed it1

Welding is a great skill to have. I've done classes in MMA and TIG welding. I'd love a TIG welder but I wouldn't get enough use out of it to justify the cost of it but maybe someday I'll get one. Do the consumables cost much with your TIG setup? How much would you say it's cost altogether to buy and run?

How long would you estimate between refills? You've made a good saving fixing the exhaust and these bikes seem to run better with the original exhausts. Also you can make your own specialty tools like holders and pullers. Very handy skill to have.

i get about 6 mths between gas refills so its not bad. welding could be neater but it done its job
