Today's "What Gets My Goat" - NO POLITICS!

The two main parties here have not fielded a male candidate for 25 years, and all apart from one have been absolute drips

Totally agree. Same with them moaning about companies needing an equal amount of females as males.... why?? If it take 12 people to run a company then I don't want the best 6 men and the best 6 women.... I want the best 12 people for the job, be they black, white, gay, straight, piss standing up or sitting down.
'Equality' will be the downfall of the human race if they carry on

I am sure some of the practices carried out by the company I work for must be illegal in some way or another. For example, if we recommend someone for a job, we get paid a recruitment bounty when they start working for us. The company saves a fortune in agency fess through doing this and no problem so far. The problem a couple of months ago was they were offering to pay double the bounty if the person taken on was female. I am sure this could be construed as discrimination in some way.

I suppose it depends on the industry you work in, as in certain professions they are trying to encourage more females to take it up i.e building trades, or engineering!
It ain't what you ride, it's who you ride with!!!

I work for an IT company where we already appear to have a disproportionate amount of female senior management when compared toe the lower ranks. I have no issues with the people they have in place but do agree with Dudeofrude, it should be the best person for the job, not the best woman/man/dog/cat or whatever is the flavour of the month.

My point was, as a company, they were apparently positively discriminating but getting their employees to put women forwards for jobs rather than a (possibly better qualified/experienced) man because you would get double the bonus.

Not sure how many females would want to be working on a building site middle of January, freezing cold, wet, with freezing rain running down the crack of your arse. After saying that there's not many males want that either.

Funny - there are no questions asked in parliment or quotas or male only adverts for Nurses, primary/nursery school teachers.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

That's probably our fault since when did any male get a word in edge ways. Most of us have perfected the art of repeating their last sentence word for word,  adding the right yes dear, no dear in the right place, on the odd occasion they take a breath.

The "equal" in equality should mean equal opportunities, not equal numbers.
As has already been said, you want the best person for the job regardless of gender, colour, faith, height, weight, etc  :wall
Take a deep breath, coz it all starts now, when you pull the foccin' pin

Isnt that called "positive discrimination"?

I agree.....but what if it was a hairy, smelly, sweaty Betty who smelt worse than a prop forward's old jockstrap and cracked a fart every 2 mins whilst chomping doughnuts and talking???? Sometimes unfortunately the face has to fit.
