I am thinking it is a numberplate recognition thing and not some kind of a height radar so when it couldn't see a number plate it panicked --- like I did  :lol

Enjoyed a lovely ride on virtually empty roads whilst everyone else was watching something unimportant on telly... Big Grin

(Even though, at some points, it was like riding through an oven!)

The engine seemed to be labouring as I rode into Pirbright yesterday afternoon. I came to a halt at a T-junction and realised the front brakes were binding.
Spent a sweaty 20 minutes at the side of the road trying to diagnose the cause, but the pistons in the calipers were moving freely and once back on the bike the brakes seemed to be working normally again.
I continued (favouring the back brake) without any recurrence of the problem. I guess it was caused by the master cylinder, I’ll change the seals and hope that fixes it.

That took longer than I’d hoped, largely due to the fact that I couldn’t find my circlip pliers… wasted about 4 hours searching through the crap in my house before giving up and sacrificing a pair of normal pliers to my angle grinder.
Anyhow, the old piston is showing signs of wear so it looks like that might have been the cause. I didn’t look too closely at the cylinder, but it’s probably time to junk it since it is the original.

Anyone know what the approved method of getting that seal on the piston is? It looked to me as if it would be easier to put it on at the spring end and wind it up the spiral, but figured that risks the rubber getting cut by the edges so I pushed it on from the lever end.

Had a nice ride up to Box Hill which was (mostly) fun. Unfortunately I found a couple of my favourite roads (eg the B2146) have been spoiled with 40mph limits.

Eventually there's going to be no roads worth riding Sad

Fitted my new mivv carbon gp can. Can't believe how light this thing is! The whole box ( including exhaust, link pipe, packaging, hanger, bolts etc) was still less than 4kg!

Has a lovely raspy sound to it too. Just gotta get a quick dyno session in to make sure everything is running as it should.

My old one is up for sale in the sales section if anyone fancies a look

I rode the '1000' to Moto-R in Ruthin for an MOT. It passed with no problems.

Beat my fuel record. Managed to get a whopping 120miles out of a tank!! That's 20 miles more than previously achieved and the best part.... it was the first time I'd put 'regular' fuel in?
I've always used the premium stuff but the last garage I stopped at wasn't that fancy so I had to settle for standard 97. My bike clearly didn't like the taste so barely used any, such a diva.

Might have to do a tour of Europe now I know I have the range ??

Yup Fazersharp, standard is called premium.
Premium unleaded is 95RON.
Super is usually 98RON, sometimes 97RON.
Dunno about other models but my gen1 thou is set up for 92 RON.  So going for 98RON if anything, on the gen1 thou,  will result in a slight reduction in performance and possibly a slight increase in consumption.

Not sure why anyone would buy an FZ1 gen2 if they worried about mpg and tank range. It's a tool for hooligans to enjoy when they can no longer fit a sports bike cramped riding position, for what ever reason.

Premium at my local garage is 99 apparently? That's what it says on the pump anyway

I'm not fussed about not at all. I actually actively reduced it with the current fuel map haha I was just impressed it had managed over 100 miles to a tank for the first time in my ownership, especially as many seem to be able to get 130-150 out of their gen 2s
