Keyless entry, stop start systems and electric handbrakes in cars.

Was going to change the car but cannot get a one without all that crap. :grumble
:agree
And totally a LCD second dash I was looking at a picasso and the radio -air con - heating controls are on one LCD dash if the radio is on you have to "navigate" to the heating section to change that and then navifocinggate back taking your eyes off the road --stupid.
Also push button start WTF - it actually takes longer than putting a key in and turning - all one action, but a push button you first push the keyfob in a hole in the dash and then press the start button -stupid.
AND i want a CD player please !!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of these features are becoming pretty much standard across the ranges now tho.

If you want a new car you're probably going to have to accept some of these things.

I'm not hankering for an electric handbrake and an engine that keeps cutting out, but what choice is there now?.

They lay half an inch of salt on the roads round this way nearly every night, so cars only have a limited life span I guess.

At least most of the new large saloon cars are stunning to look at unlike most of the new bikes where there now appears to be a competition to see who can come up with the most ugly disjointed look possible.

The hire car we had on holiday last year had an electric handbrake. The only way it would stall on a hill start would be if you naused up your clutch control, just the same as having a regular manual handbrake. As has already been mentioned it releases as soon as forward motion is detected. No point in having a hill start on the driving test, maybe they don't anyhow as I passed mine in the dark ages :lol .

Fly by night builders that leave the road caked in mud and churn up the grass verge outside everyone's house for good measure.

They're always boasting how much money they've got, you'd think they'd chip in for a sweeper.

How aboot, people who moan and get upset about insignificant mince that nobody else has either noticed or thought aboot. :lol

I just thought that’s what it does.  I don’t notice it or look at it, it sits more or less behind the rear view mirror so I can’t see it anyway.  Never given it any thought.

Oh one reason for getting it was I stupidly thought it might improve my driving (one friend complained it’s like being in an episode of the Sweeney – and I was trying to take it easy!)

But naw the stupid thing just sits there gathering endless evidence of my bad driving.  A rolling two hours of highly incriminating evidence.  I should bin the stupid thing.

  Car dealers.

Two years ago I got a pre reg new motor deal.  All good.  But now for only the second time in my life I’m taking a car for a service, the first was last year.  So;
Me – Can I bring it in at 09:00hrs.

Dealer – Sure – no problem.

Me – When will I get it back?

Dealer – Oooo, should be ready before 15.00hrs.

Me – What the fuck?  Is it getting a full engine strip down and re-build or something?  I’d like it back for 10.00 if you don’t mind.  Can I have it back at 10.00 please?

Eventually agreed to bring it in at 08:15 and they guaranteed it would be ready by 11:00 at the latest.

Presumably this is just a bit of kidology to make you think they are actually doing lots of stuff to your car for that small fortune of cash you are handing over, when in fact they are just robbing you blind for an oil and filter change.

Or learn to drive properly and responsibly.
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

Now you see I wouldn't have done that because you're encouraging them to rush the job and maybe cut corners Wink

Plus you've probably already pissed them off to start with :lol

+1 with the ugly motorcycles on offer today. They look unfinished, and what is it with the seat heights. I couldnt throw a leg over most of em (29" inside leg) without putting my spine out

Basically yes, although the intervention isn't strong enough to override the human, it just feels like resistance. What it does do which would be great for about 50% of road users is make them use there indicators as that is how the system knows that you are deliberately crossing the marked line.

Not if it makes them use them like most HGVs on the A14 indicate pull out no use of mirrors or they don't give a foc if there,s anything on the outside of them. Might buy the excuse of blind spot on my bike but how do you miss a foccing great 4x4

They think they've got superior roadcraft to all the rest of us.

All that driving sends them stir-crazy I reckon.

Usually they wont know what is still in the workshop from the previous day blocking a ramp because of spares availability. As a result they don't know when they can actually start the work.
