Got my new rear tyre fitted today and tomorrow I will be spending the day in the garage fitting my new chain and sprockets, putting the wheel back on and fitting my new auxiliary lights. I didn't want to fit the new chain and sprockets yet as I wanted to wait until after the winter but while I have the rear wheel off I might as well just do it.

Sorry only just saw your post. Been in the garage for hours cleaning gunk oil and grease off the swing arm and around the small sprocket only to find that the retaining nut was not bolted on as the thread had been stripped and the washer with the retaining flaps was well and truly chewed up, luckily the thread on the rod seems to be fine, but Unfortunately my baby is going to be off the road until I get the new nut and flappy washer thing that I've just had to order as none of the bike shops near me have any stock  :'(

Finally got round to doing the twin headlight mod using the write up on here, it looks a lot better now its not a cyclops (even if one is blue and one is yellow) . Not anticipating any MOT problems but I've  put a fuse in so that I can disconnect for a re-test if needs be.


Also, having experimented with the BT21s down at 32/36 psi for a few weeks, iv gone back up to 36/40. Feels immediately better, it's like a different bike!


New mirrors for the next job, I'm sick of looking at my elbows.  Also need chain and sprockets soon but trying to put that off for another few months...

i went with the did extreme kit for about £90 of ebay comes with a heavy duty gold chain no complaints so far very smooth compared to the  old set http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DID-Extreme-Up...SwyKxXh7RS  its fair went up in price since i got it in September

The chain has stretched past the limit they quote in the manual but still doesn't pull off the sprocket teeth very much at all, so I'm hoping to keep it going a bit longer. Need to keep an eye on the front sprocket wear as well though.


Would be a nice job for spring / summer when it's warmer /lighter ,  and I can take the opportunity to regrease swingarm bearings at the same time

The DID chain and sprocket set daviee posted is a very good choice and more affordable but the Afam set from my experience and others advice given to me, will last longer especially if you are like me and ride the bike more than drive the car.

agreed with fazer99 afam  is top quality stuff mine is a weekend bike so i will be lucky  if i adjust it more than a couple of times a year lol plus im fitting an electronic chain oiler  so should help aswell im a bit anal when it comes to maintenance so my chains are always well  looked after

Took mine out for a spin today as it was nice and gave it a tank full of Shell V Power.

Finished repainting my bellypan (the nearest red I could find in Halfords to VRC1) then took it out for a ride after several weeks. After a bit of stale fuel grumpiness it picked up fine.

repainted front forks with new seals fitted new pads all round
new wheels fitted with new bearings fresh rubber
just a carb balance to do and all sorted

Fitted my new Afam chain & sprockets as well as the new larger front sprocket nut and managed to take it out for a spin, I've not been able to ride it for over a week and it felt so good to get back on it. Looking forward to the warmer weather so I can get all the shiny layer off the new rear tyre  .
