Kodi TV boxes - Anyone got one?
#1

Just got myself one of these things and added the Areswizard app to it.
Seems to be able to watch most hacked TV for free as well as many of the latest films.

If I get a month or two out of it before Virgin media cotton on to these devices and block the connections to the streaming sites, I will have got my £30 worth.

My son has had his since March and is well happy with it. Able to watch BT Sport for MotoGP and Saturday afternoon football when our team has an away fixture. Took it on holiday last summer as we knew the apartment had wifi and worked a treat, being able to follow the TT. Best £35 he's ever spent.

I installed Kodi on the Amazon Firestick and works well.

I've found the Wookie Lite install is best for it, which is really good for the devices with smaller memory.

Faza - Does Kodi install on the Firestick directly or do you have to "side load" it?

You can install directly via WiFi.  I followed a tutorial like this one on YouTube.

You put ES File explorer on first and then use that.

It's a little fiddly due to having to enter the website addresses through the remote but it doesn't take that long really.  Wookie is then pretty quick once Kodi is all up and running.

Bought a firestick off Amazon for 25 quid.
Yup installed Kodi on my firestick a couple of days ago.

Used this guide - I think an update to the guide to the one Fazafou posted.

He does at times do several clicks, then explains what he's doing after (rather than the other way round) but I got there OK eventually.

Once Kodi was on I installed Exodus - no end of films.

Watched Scully a couple of nights ago - not bad.
Last night I watched 71 - superb - had me on the edge o the sofa - cracking film.

Yes. Seems great for films and box sets. Live TV seems to be a problem in my house but that may be virgin media related.

OK done some googling and now more confused than ever!!!

Where do the streams come from if you wanted to break the law and watch Sky Sports?
And then is it the same as watching off the net, ie the stream is painfully slow and full of porn adverts and not there next week?

the streams come from multiple sources. The problem I have found with the live streams is its only 480p which on a 40+"" TV makes it look terrible. When you find the higher resolution streams they do buffer a bit but that's probably my network rather than the stream.

Not seen a single advert (other than the ones sky broadcast) whilst watching a stream though.

Films are great too. No adverts and some of the recent ones even appear to have been copied from the cinema projection system directly rather than by someone using a  phone in the cinema.

I've had kodi ( previously xbmc) for a few years on portable devices , tablet , laptop but not sure if I'd go with a box as if it goes tits up or gets taken down you've forked out for a box that's useless, although I use it mainly on a tablet and then onto tv via memory card and adaptor for tv media player , I'm thinking about installing onto the fire stick it seems the best option out there and it's a lot cheaper than the box and if it all goes tits up you've still got the fire stick

Cheers Bob, I'll give it a miss, I cant stand sub-standard TV (footie). Just have to keep paying Sky  :eek

I've got it on my tablet so I wouldn't bother going to the extent of buying a box for the tv.
I personally just use a chrome cast to stream it to my TV if I really wanna watch a film on there but 9 times out 10 the missus doesn't wanna watch the stuff I like so I'm happier watching on my tablet

Apps like Mobdro can be good if you know which channel you want. Google 'mobdro apk download', it's not in the play store  Wink

I've just installed Kodi on a TV Android box I've got..... oh wow!!  I'm not normally one for piracy and looking for live streams but I thought I would give this a go.

We've already watched a couple of footie games and a movie (Jason Bourne) last night.  Quality of the picture on the film was spot on.

I installed https://www.tvaddons.ag/config-wizard-kodi/ and have been using Sportsdevil, UK Turks and then discovered Exodus last night (these are the add ons).

I am paranoid that I am breaking the law and that one day my broadband supplier will cut me off but we shall see.  I'm hoping that because there are so many people using it they will find it hard to prosecute everyone.  :evil

I wouldn't worry too much harry. I would imagine it would be fairly hard for them to prosecute anyone for streaming as you aren't technically downloading a copy, your merely watching what somebody else is broadcasting.

It would be a bit like somebody driving round a town centre with a 30 ft tv on the back of a lorry broadcasting a live ppv boxing match, you wouldn't be doing anything illegal by watching it but they would be by showing it
