Dunno why they changed the lights so you only get one dipped beam on a later fazer, guess it's EU regs or summat. Anyhow, I'm old and blind, my evening commute from Bristol to the heart of the Forest of Dean is quite terrifying in the dark, even more so when it's raining. Do they do brighter bulbs nowadays that don't burn hot and need updated fuses like the old 100 w halogens? I don't want the arse ache or cost of HID...

Osram should be good too.  Wouldn't bother with anything else.

My 2004 both lamps work together, (2xH4) didn't ken they later dropped it to one for drip.  Shouldn't be a difficult mod to fix.

The bulbs I linked to do not have a CANBUS, so can not be used on a bike with CANBUS unless you get a CANBUS eliminator. The Fazer couldn't even spell CANBUS so it really isn't a problem.

• I assume you referring to a gen2 - I would hazard a guess that the wiring is the same as it is on the gen 1. You just tap of the working dip beam lead (at the front loom connector end) and wire that to a right-angle  spade connector to fit into the 3-pin H4 connector. Its a very easy job that take you no longer than hour to do. The alternator is rated to power both headlights inspite of the bullshit EU bollox and the fuse and wire should easily cope.
  
• Despite what everyone has said about better bulbs, unfortunately its a complete waste of time - as its only a little bit better. The £10-20 you spend on a these so called better bulbs is better spent else where -

• IMHO these always come from China and never really work - but I am happy to be proven wrong. The market sorley needs a LED replacement fore the H4 bulb/fitting.
  

I have a set ob both my fazer and my bandit and both sets are over 2yrs old and still going strong. They also kick out the same light as a single 35W HID and are fully legal.

At some point I am thinking about going down the full projection conversion route, this would allow me to have dual hi/lo HID with a light out to that seen OM fitted units on cars.

cool post ,,was only complaining my eyes must be getting worse or my lights arent as good as i thought and i have have h4 bulbs which at the start were a nice improvement on standard, but mabey ive just got used to them or my eyes are fucked ,,might take a chance on those cree ones put um on the forks like that .

It took me less than 5 minutes to find out what the law actually said. B1k3rtwit is wrong about the wiring being the same, but is right that the wiring change would be easy, however, you might be slightly disappointed putting a hi/lo beam bulb into a high beam reflector and expecting a lo beam result. An odd mistake to make for someone who knows beam patters so well...

I went down the LED 'driving lights' alternative too.


Fitted 2 x 20W spot lights inside the fairing wired off a switched relay with a button fixed under the horn switch.


They are dipped enough not to dazzle people, but provide a huge amount of additional light for country roads.  When these are on with the main beams it's really impressive.

That looks pukka. Twat that I am,  I actually had a bulb out, so both lights on my gen one are now working ok. Replaced the bulbs with xenons, much better

Boar,yes, I am off to Dorset hopefully next week shooting Deer with my mate who does game meat for a living, he shoots a patch in the Forest for Boar, I have not been there with him yet,soon I hope
