UK Bike Cops
#1
So we've got new anti terror police on "FAST RESPONSE" BMW bikes  :lol .
What do you think do we need them? Wouldn't they be better on scooters for a really fast response?

It's nothing new. Just recently publicised.

They need big bikes as they may need to ride 2up. Crazy cool though!

Yes I saw a longer tv interview rather tan the headlines and very briefly the cop mentioned pillion. So it looks like they do not ride them themselves, I wonder if the rider is regular police who can ride or they are taken from the ranks of bike police
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

I would have thought anyone mobilised on a bike would be both highly trained in both weapons and high speed riding.
I think they are arming more and more regular police, but I always thought anything too specialist was SO19. But then I am a long long way from having any idea what I'm talking about. I have a few friends that are Military Police, firearms officers and SO19, I just pick up on things they say, not that we talk about it much.

I can't say I would be comfortable as a pillion in an emergency response regardless of who was riding. London is nuts!

I was thinking more about the riders because it sounded like the rider was not the armed one but was just a rider/taxi for the specialist on the back, they talked about training off road so they can mount kerbs on so on, ( and ride through fish markets just like a bond movi)

It wouldn't make any sense deploying a non-firearms trained officer (taxi as you say) to an incident requiring a firearms trained officer. I can't see that working on a risk assessment form and who would want to be that guy?. ;-)

That is a point but I dont think that they will be riding up that close. Im just thinking where are all the riders coming from as there are only few firearms officers and then you have to find one that can also ride, unless they are training up bike cops to use firearms or are they training firearms guys to ride. I wonder which is easier to do. So thats why im thinking that the rider is just a delivery guy.
I wonder it the wind shield is built proof

With a relatively high number of plod being ex-forces, the weapons training required for some is minimal and you will probably find that there are many class 1 police riders who are also firearms trained too. this is especially true in the Met as they provide royal protection etc who are all armed.

If it wasn't for the automatic weapon hung around their necks they could be mistaken for couriers with the way they dress.

Now if they had Speed Triples and hand guns it would retrospectively add credibility to that Mission Impossible film from a few years back. Glad I haven't got an urban camo jacket and an adventure bike now - looking like you might be armed when you're not can be unhealthy lol!

Often wondered, why don't British cops ride British bikes or drive British cars?

So let's see now I am a bad guy(ISIS) or some other fucking nutter group, the media have just told me on the news London will get these ROBO Cops. Guess what I reckon I will head down to Southampton or maybe up to Leeds or Bristol and go and shoot people in those cities, has to be safer really as these cities do not have ROBO Cops. :rollin How fucking thick are we in the UK? Why can the media not just report that these ROBO Cops are being formed and will be deployed around the country. They even gave out details such as IT WILL BE TWO YEARS before these ROBO Cops will be trained and deployed throughout the UK Police forces nation wide.

the media have a lot to answer for Lew, remember when the BBC told the argies that  there was a task force made up of x y and z on the way, even down to the number of planes we had and when they could and couldn't fly (I'm being liberal here as I cannot recall the full details) but they basically put our armed forces in extreme peril due to the info

hence Max Hastings......I counted them all out and I counted them all in again.....as harriers attacked and returned safely
