Has anybody here ever heard of early Thundercats having a 5-speed gearbox? I was looking at one on eBay,saw a nice one,so I thought I'd give the chap a ring.During the conversation,he mentioned the bike having a five speed box! Looking at Haynes,it never mentioned a five-speed at all ,only six.Has anyone here ever heard of this,or is the guy pulling me leg! :eek

I've had two and both had a 6 speed box.
Never heard of one having a 5 speed box.
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.
Did you tell the bloke that the first gear is down from neutral?
Most things done in a hurry need to be done again - patiently.
Worked on plenty and never seen a 5 speed version, a bit strange as the cat is an evolution of the FZR which was a 6 speed and that was an evolution of the FZ which was a 6 speed

TRX850 had 5-speed box from the same era. But if he can't tell a twin from a 4 ... Maybe what he means is it's a Thunderpussy engine with a shagged gearbox?

There's no replacement for displacement
The ThunderAce had a 5-speed box
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
As above- thunderace has 5 speed box, someone somewhere is confused!
Some say...
Also- if you're thinking of a cat there is an adapter available for £40 to swap out the shock for a r6 one!
Some say...
He will need to find the sixth gear first :lol
