Can anyone advise the cheapest place to get a set of Venhill lines from or is it best to go direct?
Also, there seems to be quite a big price difference between selecting chrome or stainless steel banjos. Is there any great advantage to going for the more expensive stainless ones?

Re Stainless v Chrome banjos/fittings: I have always gone with stainless to avoid potential corrosion issues. IMO they look nicer (Less Bling-More Quality).
So check out Hel discount,go for stainless fittings. Presume you will go for the 2-line front (Race) setup & dispense with the third link hose-ie run one hose from master cylinder union to each caliper direct?

I was looking at changing to braded lines myself and found it is cheaper to buy the 2-line race setup rather than the 3-line standard, but not sure what setup I should go for? does the race setup have better braking ability?

In short as basically mentioned the stainless are stronger and will last longer. I'm currently in the process of changing my bleed nipples from whatever soft cheese ones that are on there at the moment to some nice solid stainless steel ones.

I'm in the process of deciding which lines to go for. From what I've read there's no actual advantage in the 2 line set up other than financial saving. I'm going to stick with the 3 line as I think it will make a neater job, but that's just a personal opinion.

Cheers buddy, thats really helped, I'm going for the 2-line setup as being the cheaper option. Found a kit on EvilBay for about £60 which includes a rear line

Re fittings
As said Stainless looks good and corrosion resistant
Don't go with Anodised Aluminium, a mate of mine mentioned that they can fall apart.
This proved true when I purchased a frame which had braided lines. As the line were of no use to me I thought I could sell them on fleebay.
When I removed the bolt one of the banjo fittings just fell apart and was corroded inside.
I don't know how old they were but I wont take any chances with brakes.

I went for the Venhill full stainless 3 line front and rear. With the 20% discount the total with postage was £126.70 plus £90 for a full set of genuine Yamaha pads making a grand total of about £217 but hopefully that should be the braking system sorted for a good while..... although I may also buy calliper seals and and replace those as well while Im at it....

The good thing about the Venhill kit is that the banjos rotate until you tighten the nuts, so you will never get a twist in the line. I had the 3-line road setup as it was neater and a direct replacement. The 2-line is all about meeting race safety specs I believe, no performance advantage, though a bit cheaper. Venhill are a good option though. Nice to support a small local company too.

There's no replacement for displacement
Has anyone else fitted the Venhill lines? My kits arrived Friday so I decided to fit them today. Started with the front brakes and the banjo fittings don't seem quite right. There is only one side angled fitting which I guess goes on the master cylinder, but it is only a 20 degree angle whereas the original is probably closer to 30 degrees. Also, there are 2 straight banjos which I assume go to the front callipers, even though there are no straight banjos on the original. The right side fits okay-ish but the left side isn't very good and creates quite a tight bend in the line. The original banjos on the front callipers are slightly angled ... probably about 10-15 degrees.
I'm going to ring Venhill tomorrow but would be useful to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I think mine were the same - straight banjos at the calipers, slight angle at the master cylinder. Don't recall any problems fitting them or any tight bends. I can take a photo if you want.
Yes it does, thanks. I fitted both banjos so they were tight to the stop lug, but I see you have fitted the left side banjo slightly away from the lug. I robbed one of the 20 degree side bend banjos from the rear set and that fits much better that the straight banjo. Think I'll ask Venhill to just send me a replacement for that.

Juts been out for a test ride. Obviously the new pads are not bedded in yet, but it is a massive improvement. Probably had the original brake lines so 13 years old and the old pads were Goldfren, which most people seem to think are not great either. Just need to wait for the replacement banjo to do the rear now.
