Just bought an old 750 Honda to restore and I'm thinking of buying an ultrasonic cleaner, not too sure how they work or if the ones the 'hobbyist' buys are any good?, any of you guys have any experience or advice (carb cleaning).
Cheers

I've got one, bought it from maplins, got the cleaning fluid from there too. It doesn't fit a full bank of carbs in so you have to strip them down to single units. Cost me £110 delivered with the fluid.
The reason I got one was I was working on a Harley, the float bowl accelerator pump section was blocked solid, soaked in carb cleaner for days but nothing would shift it. Used a friends maplin sonic cleaner and it cleared the blockage within 4 mins.
A local bike shop to me has a big cleaner which fits a full set in and reckons it cost him £900.
Yep
But like everything you get what you pay for and the quality of the fluid is very important.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it buys beer, and that helps!
aye the masonic cleaner will do the job,
Get the right one and they are great. I used to use them when at sea , injector nozzles and heavy carboned up bits and pieces came out good.

As with any chemicals don't go sniffing the stuff and wear proper PPE, keep away from the kids and pets, and for fecks sake do not have a naked light about the place, do not use in a non ventilated space.
