Congrats BBB....nice xmas pressie for sure.......be interesting to hear the long term reviews for sure.........was tempted with your old fazer briefly until i realised i didnt have 1k never mind 3.5k :lol ......was tempted to ask my old man to go halves & that was pointless as i havent been to his in 18 months so he'd basically be abusing it at my expense.........i still reckon it is good to have both if you can afford to coz if the fun is short lived on the kwak it'll be a hole lot easier to flog on.........not that i would suggest such a thing

Nice one BBB having owned both the SX & an FZ1 you will enjoy the SX , performance wise nothing between them, handling the SX is more forgiving , sex appeal the SX hands down. Build quality???? make sure you plaster the SX in AFC 50 if you are a winter rider, failure to do so will end up in furry nuts and bolts.
I have a mate who has racked up 75k on his SX, I borrowed it in April this year and was still looking good and still went like a super sports bike. His only issues to date have been Rectifer warranty claim , his ignition barrel has just failed also rear caliper problem. Enjoy it a great bike, Lew

Nice! I have fancied one since they came out but I just like my FZ1 so much I can't bear to part with it. I will be interested to hear how they compare long term.

Took it out for its maiden voyage today, still running it in so was pretty tame, it's very lively low down and can't wait to open it up. The pipes are rediculously throaty loud, which is just braw

Looks awesome BBB. I'm sure you will get loads of smiles from it

They are a real tool handle almost as good as my ZX10R, with about 50hp less but with only a few Nm of torque less, which in the real world is far more usable.
I was seriously considering getting one but just couldn't let the 10R go, so got an XJR instead. If you've not had a Kawa for a while keep all the black stuff clean and well oiled with protector if you're going to use it in all weathers or it will start to show signs of rust in weeks if you don't. Even in the summer months use something like MO94 to protect them.

Hi BBB just a heads up I notice you have Paddock stand bobbins fitted. The pipes you have fitted may clear the chain side swing arm ok but if for some reason you fit the stock cans double check the clearance is still there. It is one of the reasons a lot on the SX forum will tell you to get an ABBA stand. Quite a few fitted bobbins only to find they interfere with the stock can on the chain side. Some have had the misfortune of sharing off the dog the bobbin screws into, just a thought.

Those pipes look seriously cool - understated but purposeful.
I'd take your time before you sell your GEN1. I traded mine in but a couple of years later had to buy another one back again I missed it so much! Still love it to bits.

To ' sadlonelygit'....... yes, laugh all you want, it has about the same output as a gen1 as standard. ( Wait till it's tweaked though & then try being a comic )
Output though is where the similarities end. It is ahead in every other department. I think it looks great & those cans really suit it. Enjoy the experience bbb 8) |
