Gadaffi provided good standard of living for the people of Lybia. The "revolution" was staged by the US when they couldn't get the oil and buy the land any other way, nor bribe the government. I've seen it in my country - first hand. US sponsoring "revolution". Openly. As far as human rights go, there were more in the socialist era, than there are now. When you have no jobs and way to pay for food, you don't have much human rights.


As far as Trump goes - US (and my county's president for that matter) are just puppets. Working for the big capital. Choose between democrats and republicans, but they both will make the rich remain that, and make the poor stay that way. If elections could really change things, the powerful people would not allow them.

Saddam was 'our' man.  Saddam took power with the help of the USA.  He was America's puppet.

The Taliban came about as a result of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, the country having been destabilised as a result of US support for Islamic fundamentalists in the face of increasing liberalism in Afghan cities.  America wanted to bring the USSR to it's knees by giving them their Vietnam.  The Taliban were the refugees of that war, having nothing and influenced by Saudi Wahhabism they became the most fundamental and brutal of the fundamentalists.  Taliban means scholar, all they had was their book the Koran, they overthrew the Mujahedeen whom they saw as corrupt.

Assad?  Son of  Hafez al-Assad, well they are Iran and Russia's despots.

Gadaffi, his coup apparently took the British by surprise.  But they saw no need for it to affect British, Libyan relations, not when we had so many engineering projects on the go (oil) and were the main supplier of arms to Libya.

The one thing Britain does not support Lew is democracy and the will of the people.

Pam Am Flight 103, it's unlikely that Libya had much involvement.  It has much more to do with Iran Air Flight 655 shot down by the US navy.  The Scottish trial of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was a bit of a joke continues to be an embarrassment and stain on Scottish Justice.

Having been to Lybia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran , Kutwait, etc! can honestly say never met one I would have wanted to make a friend out off. If it was not for capitalism they would still be living in tents as in the oil would still be in the ground. Russia are only able to turn the gas on or off due to western technology.

Trump probably knows what people think of him and couldn't give a foc, he is immensely rich and sucessful and a petition to ban him from coming here is just an attack on free speech, and before anyone chirps up saying with the right to free speech comes responsibilities, go down to your favourite mosque and tell them as well, any religion thats threatens execution in this day and age if you wish to leave that religion cannot claim to be a peaceful loving religion, apostasy has no place in any religion.

The Home Secretary can ban anybody who, in their opinion is "engaged in unacceptable behaviour". That involves their speech. Shirley Phelps-Roper has been banned as she is "considered to be engaging in unacceptable behaviour by fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the United Kingdom".
Seems to me that Trump falls squarely in that category. That some people here like what he's saying doesn't matter. Quite clearly over half a million people feel disgusted enough to not want him here.
