Limax - If you are in Lane 1 and a muppet is going slower in lane 2, it is legal to pass them on the inside as long as you didn't change lanes to achieve it or pull out in front of them afterwards

In other words, you are just moving with the flow of traffic, even if there is not other traffic.

Foccin hope it is as i did M5 j19-22 all in the nearside lane and I was overtaking stuff in the 'fast' lane, and I was doing a steady 100kmh .
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

It's not illegal to pass a vehicle on its nearside (if it was, we'd never be allowed to filter), but if you start switching between the lanes then you could be done for Careless Riding (according to a Magistrate I know).

You are also allowed to pass on the nearside if traffic is moving in queues:

Quote:Highway Code Rule 163:

Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so. You should

[...]

only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is room to do so

stay in your lane if traffic is moving slowly in queues. If the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are, you may pass on the left
