Carb sync gone bad

Okay, I managed to mess up carb syncing on my 600 I was given an old car sync (vacuum type)... I had a feeling it was not really too accurate. It's the type with the funny plastic taps that adjust vacuum flow; I used one ages ago and it was not too bad. With this one it was either very temperamental, or not responsive enough. I don't know why but I thought  :evil I'll give it a go anyway... now it's worse than it was.

The question is: is it worth buying a new set of these vacuum-gage ones or should I go for Carbtune straight away. Also, it sounds a bit worse now, and my clutch rattle got worse too can I still ride it or could this cause damage? I need to get to work, and if it's for the sake of the Fazer... I can take a bus for a day or two  :rollin

Should be fine to ride it. Have your gauges got a leak? I'd get a carbtune but the other style should do the job.

You have to look at the bigger picture.
I bought a used one for about £45 a couple of years ago, you'll probably be looking at up to £60 now, or less if you're lucky.
But mechanics round my way now charge £55+ per hour, and they will charge you at least an hour to do it for you.
As i've already used it 3 times i'm effectively quids in, i've learned how to do it, and my bike runs sweet.
Plus i still have it at my disposal whenever i want. It's normally a job i'll do on a nice dry sunny day in summer when i've got a bit of time, and patience, to spare with no worries of rain, wind or cold to annoy me.  un
Just make sure that your air filter is in good clean condition otherwise you can get a false reading, which happened to me on my 2nd attempt. After i cleaned the K&N filter then did it again it was a major improvement.
Make sure the bike is at running temperature before starting anything, and do a TPS check before and after syncing the carbs.

The type your describing in the first post is what I have, I found the hoses that connect to the carbs had rotted so was unable to accurately sync carbs, some new hose borrowed from work solved the problem.
