new to the site guys, and have just bought my first fazer fzs 1000 on a 03 plate 35k it is my first naked 4 cylinder machine,my question is that when i am slowing down say to stop at a junction, with the clutch lever pulled in and reving the bike i get a low rattle form what appears to be front lower part of the engine, once the bike has nearly stopped free wheeling(in gear clutch in)there is no noise, bloody love the bike but this is very frightening me any help would be very much appricated cheers marco
Hi Marco and welcome.
Do the easy stuff first - check the front sprocket for wear and the chain for tightness. If it stops when the bike isn't moving, it's probably either one of those.
Its possibly loose exup cables causing the exup valve to rattle.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
Ha, just had similar issues with my Fazer 1000, which roughly speaking sounded like a bag of small nails with clutch pulled in without any clutch issues, and I had similar comments to the ones you've received above in this thread.
Turns out to be the starter motor on mine. Not saying yours is starter motor, but it sounds similar. Located in middle of engine, although on the top.
Mine was a bit of a giveaway when I switched the ignition on last week (with no actual clutch problems), pulled the clutch lever in and it started the bike....kind of surreal feeling too, and that wasn't happening at first! :eek
Maybe worth your while thinking about?
Hope it helps mate?
