You can never get the scale of those cliffs in the Honister conveyed on camera - impressive as you come over the top of the pass and through the "gateway".
Pleased you have found it now....make it a regular when you're in the area...I rode from Borrowdale to Honister and returned to Keswick by Newlands Pass......bliss!
It's a great route, stopped at the slate mine cafe on Saturday.
Only one problem with it.
The scenery is so breathtaking, it slows you down!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Lythe valley is a corker. However hartside pass is one I rate it as one of the best bike roads I've ever ridden!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
You could do the lot start at hawes up butter tubs up to hartside then do the six passes ride in the lakes awesome day
Sounds like my next ride that Davey boy! Like it 8)

I know all them areas ,hartside cafe, alston ,butter tub pass, etc.
here is another nice run if you've not done it also head for mukerĀ
theres two ways you can go from hawes. instead of going up the bank to devils bridge turn right or you can go the opposit out of hawes and you'll see a sign saying muker

is there a lot of cyclists at Honister?
they deffo like the Hardknot as its recognised as one of the hardest climbs going...........cue the old "lycra bastards" argument :lol
fire never sleeps
mmm I got the impression that wrinrose/hardknot was in the peak district.
just notice that its in the lakes..
to get to it you have to go to skelwith bridge towards boot

They are well worth the trip for the experience
I live just the other side on the coast and go over regular on my KTM exc which is fun when you get stuck behind a tourist car and ride across the grass to cut the corners off
The only time it's uber busy with cyclists is when the Fred whitton challenge is on
