After just purchasing my fzs1000 its now time to enjoy it ,but ive noticed there is a lot of wind being generated off the fairing ,and it all seems to end up at my helmet, its not a standard screen as it is blue and has a like bubble in the centre and even on a short journey the top of my back just below my neck is sore, so i was wondering what type of screen to get which doesnt generate as much buffeting, has anyone else suffered the same?, and what type of screen did you fit . not sure what standard screen is like as ive never had one before
I prefer a very low screen, clean , undisturbed air on your helmet.
An ageing test pilot for home grown widgets that may fail at anytime.
Agree with slimwilly, sometimes less is best - I prefer the streetfighter screen, level with fairing and no more.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, FIX IT 'TILL IT IS.
sounds like a double bubble screen.
I suppose it depends on how tall you are as to where the air gets deflected to!
It ain't what you ride, it's who you ride with!!!
yes it all depends on your build /height/ width ive heard the double bubble arent great ,thats what it sounds like you have ,if u search through the search bar up at the top of the page you will find photos recommendations and all sorts of experiances with different screens i think mine is a puig or a mivv cant remember its so long since i fawned over my bike but hopefully ill have it back soon to enjoy whats left of the summer ,might even take a blast up your way someday ting
please god let the sun keep shining
there is abloke on the facebook page that is selling one & was thinking for £25 might give it a try as my normal commute is 30 miles &popping home at weekends is 250 miles
I am 5ft 9 so am quite low n thought for that money worth seeing if it would make any difference to a box standard screen!

has anyone tried cutting one of these screens ? :eek
I have cut all my screens, when I bought the bike it had a huge screen,i chopped 4" off the top of that, then I bought a dark shorter one and chopped that too, looks a lot better with a low screen,,still protection if its raining,,duck down and run,,

Yep, chopped a few screens in the past, and generally the lower the better.
I'm 6'1", but with a short body, so roughly the same height as you Ting. The standard screen is pretty good for me, but I've got a fabbri d/b screen at the mo. It's a bit noisy.
To find out what height works, ride along at your desired cruising speed, and lift your bum off the saddle an inch at a time until it's comfy. This is normally when it goes quiet.
Just don't ride until you can feel the undisturbed wind in your helmet as slimwilly does:-[
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
so whats the best method to use when cutting one of these screens ?what did you use as there rather expensive to hash up
any tips on what to use when cutting it (19-06-15, 06:56 AM)slimwilly link Wrote: I have cut all my screens, when I bought the bike it had a huge screen,i chopped 4" off the top of that, then I bought a dark shorter one and chopped that too, looks a lot better with a low screen,,still protection if its raining,,duck down and run,,
