Replaced the front brake pads , a fairly easy job considering i have never changed pads before .

Mounted a new chain for visual resaons and to try out my new Kellermann chain tool
![]() The old chain has rusty spots and I do not like that. I changed only the chain since the bike has only 11200 miles the sprockets are in quite good condition. The Kellermann tool works great. I did that job the first time and the result is perfect. According to DID the flare diameter should be 5,5 to 5,9 mm and mine have 5,7 mm old chain ![]() Kellermann tool ![]() joined new chain ![]()

Just had a few relaxing hours cleaning my FZ1S (also removed the luggage racks so I can repaint it before I go on holiday - rusty/flaky paint looked awful :pokefun )
Looking spanking now: ![]() ![]()

Removed the radiator to tackle the exhaust removal and found this. ![]() ![]() What a mess. ![]() With much hammering and chiselling the exhausts finally came off, leaving some very manky looking studs. ![]() Does anyone have the top cover off the oil cooler thingy and the pipe in this next pic, they were both so corroded that the spigot on the oil cooler just fell off and while I was scarping rust off the coolant pipe my screwdriver went straight through it. ![]() See ![]() Engine cleaned off prior to paint. ![]() Painted. Ok so it doesn't look so good but its better than it was. ![]() Spent all day doing that lot, now ive got to buy the coolant pipe, the top off the oil cooler, a new frame bar thing (which runs across the front of the engine) some downpipes with a working EXUP hopefully, EXUP cables, exhaust gaskets, stainless studs, blah, blah, blah.

I repair stuff at work sometimes that have been at the bottom of the north sea that look better than those exhaust nuts and studs!

Yeah I know, I couldn't make it look like that if I really tried. All the studs came out except one tho, penetrating oil and a good whacking on the end to try to break the grip, then used my barrel stud extractor and they came right out. The one that snapped was drilled out and tapped, so job done.

Got out on the bike this morning as the weather is utterly fantastic
![]() Enjoyed doing a bit more exploring and generally just finding roads that I've been along before. Was out for 2 1/2 hours and covered about 100 miles but I have no fucking idea where the hell I went ![]() |
