Tall Pillion

Hi All

My good lady is 5ft 11 and finds the pillion seat on my 98 FZS600 unbearable, now i know some will say that's an advantage but i like her on the back.

I believe the later 600's had different rear pegs which were lower and further forward to improve pillion comfort.

So a few questions:

Can i just bolt these to my 600 (direct replacemnet) or are other mods or parts required?

What models are they on?

Does anyone have them for sale?

I've just done exactly this
My pillion is my boy who's slightly shorter than me, but gives him better leg sitting if you know what I mean.
Was just a straight forward swap you'll be pleased to know.
It drops and pushes forward the rear pegs by, I think, 45mm, not much granted, but still good or better than 98 model. The later models are rubber covered just like riders pegs, although I swapped them as didn't like that 'look' the other thing is the actual seating area is thicker on newer models thus lifting the pillion up a wee bit as well, so you might want to look at a newer seat to give your good lady a better ride :rolleyes

On a continuous thing on the above mod.....
Since I've done this I've noticed more vibration through the handlebars and getting numbness in my fingers with pins and needles. Thinking it might be that I hadn't pushed the exhaust in properly when I changed the rear pegs as it moves that slightly too, when I got home I loosened of the exhaust and pushed it 'home' a bit better, hopefully that'll help but won't know till I go for another run with it like that, unless anyone can shine any light on this?

So I need to look out for the rear mountings with rubber covered pegs and they are the ones I want?

I didn't have time to do a full search but you can get pillion versions of these adjustable foot pegs for fine tuning the position

Yes, but you'll also need the seat to make her really comfy.
You might want to contact deefer666 on here, he might have a set as i think he's got an aircraft hanger or two full of stuff for fazers :rolleyes

Hi

My wife was getting cramp riding pillion.
So I made some Rear Footrest Hangers that moved the footrests forward 50mm and down 50mm
you can get the 30mm x 5mm steel strip 1M long from the larger B&Q's

Use the Fazer footrest hanger capscrews to hold the new brackets to the bike (heads are thinner see pic's) then std capscrews for the footrest hanger to bracket.
The 8mm bolt goes through the 10mm threaded captive nut on the exhaust can.

Note..... I have the year 2000 Fazer 600 with the thicker seat and the lower rear footrests so this gives even more of an improvement

Good work, but I have all the equipment and technical knowledge of some one with no equipment and technical knowledge so not something I could do.

Have ordered the rear rests and will see how they go.

The rear pegs arrived today and were fitted in minutes.

Sitting on the back end, they do seem to make a fair bit of difference to the comfort on the back.

I will she how SHMBO (she who must be obeyed) gets on with this set up before investing in a new seat.
