Errrr, me and Noggy may have jinxed you Nick http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,16308.0.html    buuuut tough, shit happens  :lol :lol

Glad to hear you're out and can be fixed up......again! Ever considered a trike  :rolleyes

You and Christo could have days trips  :lol

Just to put the record straight  Wink

This little trip into the undergrowth was not because of the bike - a momentary lapse of concentration on my part, all down to me. We'd just about got to Newtown, and that bike was handling beautifully. I had actually eased off a bit when I came off; looked back at where I was going, to find it just too late to correct and save it  :rolleyes  Once again, a low speed spill where circumstances contrived to ensure that once in the situation, I just couldn't get out of it in time. At one point, even running along the hedgerow on the grass verge, I thought I'd get it back on the road, but somehow I slipped/was pulled back on the seat, causing me to actually open the throttle, and I wasn't able, for just a fraction of a second, to let it go. I dunno, hard to put everything exactly into sequence in my head now.

I'm just now hoping that the back injury doesn't affect me too badly in the long term. I already had some back problems accumulated over the years, making some things hard work (like washing the bike for instance  Sad ), but was managing ok. The X-rays and scans they did this time around confirmed a number of compressed etc vertebrae from previous times, some possibly as a direct result of injury, some from more indirect use having to carry for so many years other injuries elsewhere. At the moment, I'm fine after taking the shit-load of painkillers I've been prescribed and a bit of a rest, but this morning, feck me, that wasn't fun to wake up to!

I don't need anyone to jinx me fella; I do that quite adequately all by myself  :\ I dunno - I know I should ease off a bit, but when I get on those lovely winding roads, I just can't seem to help myself. Thank feck I have no dependants to worry about, cos I'm sure one of these days it'll be end-ex for me.

But, d'you know, I was having so much fun up til the point where I realised I was gonna hit the deck that if I'm ever going to go, this is the way I would want it to be. In hospital, I sat and watched an old fella die of a chest infection and other complications - if that's dying of old age, you can keep it. Sounded like he was trying to breathe underwater at the end.

I once said that the day that all I can ride is a scooter, I'd quit two wheels. I think the same would apply to trikes.

Thanks again to all the well-wishers. Dave48, half the bleedin country would be named after me if we were to go down that route!  :lol I thought ARAF meant "go for it, you riding God"  :lol

Don't dwell on it too much,,just another slip up ,,there would of been a few more by the end of summer.

got to say Nick that I agree with you in that if I gotta go then i'd rather it be doing something I love & enjoy than other ways!
glad your on the mend & hope you recover soon to enjoy the thrill of 2 wheels! (some of those scooters have big 600 engines in them and don't half shift!! so don't discount them out right!)
It ain't what you ride, it's who you ride with!!!

Cracking on (well, Luke is  :b ) with getting things sorted - I may be off for a few weeks, doesn't mean I can't be preparing for a(nother) comeback  Big Grin

This will be seen as a time of opportunity, not a set-back...there will be no gloomy faces at this conference table!
