Hi Dave, and welcome to the foc-ers!

You should be ok with a can/filter, the bike 'should' be able to deal with the increased airflow. I ran mine this way for a few weeks with no problems. I then got a tb juicebox, and started experimenting!

Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Used  Power commander 3s are in demand as the hot rod boys get the handed down FZ1s s, first time owners probably love the bikes as they are, lots for sale still with the Dyson can still on,lol

Get fettling and saving, not easy with a toy in the shed like that, but it's an interest innit ? :lol

Ive got a hacked airbox and cat-gut (+air injection thrown away) and run a PC5 (I got cheap on fleablag).  I download someone elses map (a pack of them) from one of the american forums and the mid-range is waaaay stronger and smoother.  I could dyno it, but there are enough tried and tested maps (that mainly bypass the 5000rpm emissions homologation nonsense) to give the bike a proper litre-bike midrange and not an EU-strangled middle.

I'd go for a PC3 or PCV, heck mine is probably worth just as much as when I bought it or more - if you don't want it just bung it back on the 'bay.

Thanks for the replies think I am going to go for a PCV if I can get one at a reasonable price do I need an oxygen sensor or anything else with it

I just got a brand new PC5 for 227quid via a French bike shop on ebay, much cheaper than usual due to the good exchange rate to the poor euro........they are usually about £300.

Ive been watching ebay for a while now and the PC3, second hand are going for circa £160-£170 there really is the demand for them at the momen....i think it's a bit steep, i was willing to pay £150 tops, ideally £130 but hey ho that wasnt to be.

I've heard of folk getting rid of an o2 sensor but not exactly sure where it is, i presumed that it would be within the exhaust and mine is most likely gone since i have an afermarket can but maybe someone can shed some light on the matter as to where this sensor actually is?

The airbix mod is well worth doing just for the induction noise  8) , unless you use a tank bag which spoils the noise a bit.

Pilingas........any chance of pm or emailing me a map for the pc5 that you feel is a good starting point.....pretty please?

I'm running an o2 eliminator that just provides a constant 0-1v square wave.  If the ECU goes closed loop, it just tells it that the bike is running stoich (even though it might be a touch rich with a custom map).  I guess these bikes only do closed loop in quite a small area of the fuelling map anyway, at very small loads/throttle openings (3000-7000rpms, with less than 20% throttle?), everything else (1000-3000 and 7000+revs or greater than 25% throttle) will be open loop to have anything like useable driveablility and emissions.

I have ordered a pcv that comes with a o2 sensor eliminator just wondering where does it plug in and do you have to remove it to upload new maps

They come with full instructions and are very easy to fit with the multiplugs attached. To download new maps just connect to your laptop with the cable provided, no need to remove from the bike.
I don't have a pc5 but I have a Juicebox Pro and they fit exactly the same, it took me less than an hour to fit it, the only thing that took any time was identifying the O2 connection and fitting the 02 eliminator, getting the 02 multiplug apart was a pain as it was an extremely tight fit.

I just used the map in the pack closest to my own spec - maybe called duken's smoothed map or something. There are loads of maps for end cans and air filters, just don't use the junk maps on the dynojet website.

I think you mean the whitlebeast smoothed map Smile
Lots of people run it but when i tried it  i found it gave me hot starting problems, don' t know why.
The only thing to do is just try different maps until you find one that suits you, everybodies taste and riding style differs.
The only place that seems to have different maps is the american FZ1OA site.
I have a little route I use to do tests on that is about 22  miles so I could do back to back tests on easily, its a bit easier with a juice box as you can have up to 10 maps loaded and just switch from one to the other with a little screwdriver.
The one I have found best for me so far is a pc3 map which is for an Akrapovic can, fce and  02 eliminator, even though  I have a Beowulf can fitted.

As the last couple of posts have mentioned, you really need to do the secondary flies, airbox mod, and an air filter before attempting the remaps.

I did all my mods pretty much all at once, fitted my juicebox, and started playing.

The difference was incredible! Yes it was was linear power, but it was a Hell of a lot more than standard. As a sports bike it was great when modded!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
