I have just fitted aftermarket clocks to my Gen1, now as we know this bike has a oil level switch going to the warning light on the clocks and the aftermarket clock has an oil pressure warning light, will this make a difference as the warning light is stopping on and it was not with the original clocks 5 mins before fitting. Or is it something like a resisitor needs fitting inline as its an led warning light and not a bulb.

Oil level
light and an oil pressure light totally different things methinks!!
If you've connected the oil pressure lamp to the oil level connection /signal it should work the same as it did the switch doesn't know the words have changed on the lamp lol..
The oil level switch is a normally closed type. Maybe your cluster expects a reverse logic? I would imagine pressure sensors close when oil pressure is too low, so normally open types (when engine running).
Have wired up a seperate stand alone bulb to the switch neg with power direct from battery thus by passing the cluster and still light stays on, plenty of oil in (near the top level) i am wondering if the float has sunk or is stuck??

not sure what you mean try reversing the wires??

He doesn't mean reversing the wires.
What he's saying is that if the original meter required n/c contacts in the oil level switch to illuminate the warning light then the new meter assembly may require a n/o type switch.
So the cluster and my switch are non compatable? which means disconnecting and checking the oil levels manually on a reg basis :eek

Or will the light stay on until the level drops so working reverse therfore for oil level indication it could mean on =
off= :\
:lol :lol

will be doing an oil n filter change soon so thats when i will confirm and if it does how do i wire the relay to turn it around so to speak

Sorry my mistake, I thought a oil pressure light would show when oil pressure was low and a oil level light would show when oil level was low, foc all to do with pressure, but wtf do I know.
thanks christian, and the fuel gauge is the dogs bollocks

I'm pleased to hear 8) Do you have any pictures?
not yet as fly screen and plastic not yet back on bike due to all the fuss with the oil light,
also the rev counter doesnt work however i think thats because of the missing pcb in the original clocks, the new clocks takes a wire off the coils straight to the cluster
so am assuming that with the fazer being all sensitive with the ecu and engine error codes etc the new rev counter wont play ball, but i ride via the engine tone anyway therfore not a big issue
will have pics once bike all back together
"Dont confuse my personality with my attitude My personality is who I am. My attitude depends on who you are..."
yes lol bit far to pop around to you
tried off both coils and both + and - sides and nothing so i presumed it was the bikes electronics make up,
