As in the title, I've fitted new brake pipes and filled the resovouir with fluid but pumping the lever does nothing to move the fluid if that makes sense. Question is any suggestions or tips. I've left a bleed screw open and fluid in the resovouir hoping it will bleed itself.
I have found in the past having the bleed nipples closed helped to get it started. as soon as you get fluid in the line it is easy. Don't be tempted to open both nipples at the same time, do one 1st then the other and go back etc.
in truth this is how I generally bleed brakes now days. saves hassle and less chance to get air in the lines.
Good luck
Lord,
Grant me the WD-40 to move those things that are stuck, the Duck tape to fasten those things that are loose, And the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen
Yes tried that and also tried a non return valve type bleeding gadget. Once I've dropped off the wife's car for a service I'll have another go tomorrow.
Cheers
Be careful doing this mate - but put a long tube on the nipple, open it, and suck. Eventaully fluid will come through. Make sure yuo're filling the reservoir up. Use a long hose though so you don't get a mouthful! Then do the same for the other side. Once you've got pressure, you can bleed as normal!
Failing fJoe's method, you can always try the reversebleeding which may work better with the cylinder seals. Worked on m y Fazer.
Try Use the old fashioned oil pump can like the attached pic to pushh the fluid back up to the reservoir. Make sure the oil can is full of fresh fluid and the reservoir cap is off.
I'm pissed and this haw taking me ages to type. Good liuck fella :thumbup
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Sorry geezer, I am really getting a case of "can't be arsed".... but hey, clearly don't know what you doing, why not do you're own brakes with help from internet experts" its not as if they are vital is it? ..... Crack on.

Don't assume that because people ask questions it is an indication of their ability . If you don't wish to help others with your vast experience that's fine.

:agree
I don't mind helping people out but I'm not prepared to help someone kill themselves or others. Its very clear in this case Andy FSZ you're out of your depth here matey. It's like with most things if you know what your doing it's easy and there are countless books or people who are prepared to offer "the best way to do it" because it's easy :rolleyes :rolleyes There is quite a few pit falls with bleeding brakes to the point where they appear to work until you grab a handful in an emergency and they don't work :eek :eek. Mate seriously get someone who knows what there doing sort them for you, don't listen to some of the advice given below it's just plain comedy :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin
Thanks Gnasher..... The voice of reason that I should have been but sometimes you just have to read this stuff and it's best to shake your head and walk away.

Thanks for all your concern but fortunately you don't me or my ability experience and qualifications you've made assumptions that are wide of the mark. I'm sure your comments are well meaning but in this instance wrong. Anyway thanks for your concern.
Andy

And, no doubt, you were *born* knowing "what you're doing", so it was easy for you.
For those of us who aren't natural born geniuses, we have to ask questions and it's nice when we get helpful answers rather than "you're out of your depth, get someone else to do it!"
