Chain & sprocket kit - too many choices on ebay!
#1
Just about the buy a new chain and sprocket kit, and I'm totally spoilt for choice on ebay with far too many subtle variations at different prices.
So, most of you reckon the DID X-Ring chain is a good one.

Is this a good kit and price:-
DID Gold X-Ring Chain & Sprocket Kit
What's the deal with Gold (just a colour variation?), VX, extreme, carbon sprockets, etc? Are there other sets for about ~£100 that are better?

Also, checked front sprocket, seems I still have the old nut, just 9mm deep. This the correct upgrade I should have:-
GENUINE YAMAHA FZS600 FAZER FRONT SPROCKET NUT AND WASHER KIT
Nut, still nice and tight, so no issues to worry about.

Yeah, behind that front sprocket cover it was absolutely full of shit, crud, dirt and dried lube. Yuck! Gasket totally disintegrated too. Anyone know the part number for this gasket? Also any tips for giving it all a good clean behind there?

They're both good buys.

Personally i wouldn't worry too much about the gasket, it's not exactly doing anything is it, plus it's bloody expensive?

Never understood the point of a gasket on the sprocket cover!
Personal experience there is no need for the super duper xxx strong did chain on these bikes, as for the hold linkages it's just a bit of pointless bling unless you're constantly cleaning your chain!

Hi,

50 miles away from 38k and my 2nd chain has had it.

I didn't check the chin before Christmas and it had got slack and ripped a hole in my Scottoiler chain lube pipe so the road crud got into the chain a little more than it would have.

So I am also looking for a chain and sprocket set. The one I am looking at is this one again not sure if it is good value.

This is the cheap item:

Does anyone know a good kit.

If I could I would but postage is £7.50 ontop also the new tab washer for front sprocket is £2.50. I know that I am not the cheapest but I specialise in Fazers in my workshop and only supply the stuff that I use on my own bikes.

Gone for this kit. Seems as good as any, and a good price.
Found that gasket on Motorcyclespareparts.eu for €15, which considering the current exchange rate, wasn't too bad. Also picked up some genuine fork seals cheap from them too.

Deefer66: BTW the mobile number on your Motorcycle Republic website doesn't work. Sad
