What do we reckon to this one?

Maybe this is more appropriate in the flogging in subforum but this is an opinion gathering post more than anything.

There's this listing here for a black Fazer 600 on fleabay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-fazer-6...7126&rt=nc

It's been on Gumtree for a while as well, says it has 60,000 miles on it (gumtree ad said 62k but it's been put up again today)

It looks in decent nick but for the repainted engine, rusty downpipes and weird chain cover that looks bodged.

Do you reckon it's a dog, guys or do you think it's worth a snipe?

It's on Gumtree for £700 and nobody was interested, I'm not sure he'll get much more than what he's offered on ebay and there's every likelihood that he'll take the thing down if it doesn't go for a price he wants.

So cast your expert eyes upon this machine, what can you tell me that's obviously wrong that I've missed?

Mmmmm....yep, that looks like a home made chain guard using checkerplate, chain looks way too loose possibly past its best, paint work is very patchy so would expect a few repairs to the plastics.no yamaha logo on the fairing or fazer logo, missinggrab handle....on the plus side, I think the downpipes are stainless that need a good polish up..........cant see it going for more than 5 tops, especially at this time of year.......just my opinion though  Wink
One, is never going to be enough.....

There's a little dog under the plastic covering at the back of the foto looking at the dodgy cables along the top of the block and by the carbs

Haha, that's just what I thought. Maybe I'll nick it when it turns out that the thing's a cat b or something.

Fairly local to me but def not one of mine! Plus points are stainless downpipes and EBC front discs, the rear disc is also a replacement but looks cheap and nasty and no doubt due to a siezed rear caliper (still got the dog shit original rear caliper on it!). The fairing looks like it was repaired by blind pugh and then repainted with a stipling brush! The rubber weather flap at the front of the engine is missing & its still running the original brake lines will will also be dog shit by now. Also something very odd with the undertray.

BUT its an old bike and its cheap and I would be tempted to have it for the down pipes and front discs.....would make a good breaker/parts donor, or winter hack, or a solid base for a fixer upper.

Thanks for your input Deefer, I didn't notice the rear disc somehow.

It would definitely be a fixer upper project with a view to turning it into a solid daily rider by the Spring.

fairing liners missing too, although I have these, I have grab rails, I have the missing rubber sections, I also have complete undertrays..... BUT I won't be having a punt on it as its the wrong time of year for me to be buying and I have enough to be getting on with as it is.
