Hi just got a 09 Fazer thou with 600 miles on the clock in as new condition, bit strange after years of superbikes ie R1, Fireblades etc and I also currently run a 97 Blackbird.
I went for the Fazer as I have some age related aches and pains and have just got rid of my zxr 636 which i loved but was causing me some gip.
Initial impressions of the Fazer are positive comfy and pulls well and a few gripes that perhaps forum members might be able to advise me on.
1)Footpegs catch on boots and pants also dig into my calves when stationary! would rearsets help?
2) got some Renthal bars but lines and cables too tight so abandoned that project , any ideas.
3) Sticky out back end, is there a decent quality tail tidy available.
Apart from that seems ok.

I had 2 out of the three of your problems. With my fz 1s
I put a fatbar conversion on mine which took the bars a little wider, but about same height with no cable problems. Made the bike much better in my mind.
Rearsets would work, and brooker81 has a set on his when I rode it. They seemed a bit better. And a tail tidy is a must for getting rid of that hideous rear end. There's a few about that fit.

hello there, the bike will take a bit of getting used to, but it will grow on you.
I have fitted renthals to mine, yes pipes and cables are tight but it fitted.
Tail tidy and eat cover a must

My last sportsbike was a ZXR600, I used to look forward to traffic lights so I could stretch my arms and legs! Old age is very over rated.
My boots also catch on the footpegs, I put it down to my stumpy legs. I just live with it as I have had it on other bikes. I did think about rearsets but at my age they would probably make my knees worse than they are already.
Put a picture up of your bike, 600 miles is not even run in, I thought my 07 was low mileage when I bought it at 8100 miles.
Thought was just me with the footrest boot problem, have 2 pairs of boots and it's only the pair with a buckle in just the wrong place that is bad. Putting trousers on outside boots helps, don't want rear sets. Its the hero blob that catches for me, taking it off is not a bad idea. Oh, welcome, had 3 Blackbirds myself and would love to still have one but even with risers my hands and wrists still have issues

Looking at a few minor (cheap/ free mods to start with)
Eaton Bars and lower risers, and the tail tidy, + mod the air box and throttle flies,
I have also been thinking of ditching the fairing mounted mirrors and fitting bar mounted ones.
I may ditch the oem can when I can afford to but don't want to go too noisy.
any thoughts!

Don't go too far on the engine tuning without a fuel controller, as she could run lean = not good.
Do the airbox mod and air filter for now. If you change the flies for trimmed ones, and/or add an exhaust, it could be too far for the ECU to adjust.
16t Front sprocket is a good upgrade for that extra bit of poke, but a bit revvy for motorway cruising in my eyes, and you have to get a Speedo adjuster.

Just had a look at them on ebay, look quality!
I have the big bore xls and im happy with it. easy to fit too.
