ZERO TO HERO BOXING
#21
oh, stats...
Age: 41
Height: 5'11
Current Weight: 81kg

I expect to be down to around 78kg.

At 81kg i fall into the low end of CruiserWeight, which means i'm potentially giving away up to 10kg's.
At 78kg, i'm at the upper end of Light Heavyweight.

Sorry to hear about your back , and good on you for getting on with it , I hope you make it to fight night without injury , try yoga or pilates on your rest days , it will help your back and general recuperation , it has worked for me and sorted my knees out which makes running enjoyable . Are you right or left handed . Being older I had to convert the weight (stones and lbs for me ) and good luck making the weight being hit by somebody who weighs 23lbs more  will hurt  .

Have spent the last few years battling with my back,  December - April this year i was having a real hard time walking, physio's had given up and left me to the surgeons.  I started walking unaided in April just prior to my surgery consultation, and have slowly been building up the fitness, quite literally starting out from walking, where 50 meters was tiring.
Kinda figured, fukkit, i started the year fighting to walk, may as well finish the year fighting.
Not sure how/if i should, bring it up at work... HR will probably have kittens.  But i have a minimum number of tickets to sell, and if i have to get the work colleagues in, then i will do.
Formal training started saturday just gone.  I couldnt make that, so i went on the tuesday instead.  I was the only novice there, everyone else was fighting on the friday, including some championship contenders.  I thnk i put in a reasonable account for myself, but a HUGE difference in fitness between me and those guys!
Mondays - 3 mile run at lunch
Tues evening - Boxing
Wed/thurs - off
Fri - 3 mile run at luch
Sat - Boxing
That is pretty much my routine at the moment.  I'm 41 years old, have had a 20+/day smoking habit for the past 25 years, and have had to start my fitness training from absolute zero (walking).
Fight is on either Dec 5th or Dec 6th.

Cheers, yeah I don't think making weight will be a problem, I'm one of those naturally skinny guys who loses weight easy but gains weight hard - never thought it might come in handy until now

This looked a great build up (the training), plus night for all involved !?

I've always secretly liked to get into the Ring, and try something like this, just to see how I'd handle it / the whole experience.
(there's infact a few WORK colleagues I'd personally select to flight against)!  :lol

Doing this, where funds raised go to a decent charity, would be a great "excuse" to sign up.  :thumbup
