This noise sounds very familiar to me from years back.
Is it definitely the clutch area, i could be well off here but what about the water pump?
The fins can break causing noises like that and it could explain the overheating.
I'm hearing two things going on, that buzzing noise, plus a poor sounding engine noise as well.
Just out of curiosity, check your expansion tank and see if the level is correct, or at least how you last remember it?
If it all looks normal just ignore me and i will quietly go away. :rolleyes
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
Its hard to tell where its coming from, if i put my ear up to the clutch case there is a tapping noise but doesn't sound the same as the knocking when i open the throttle.. best way to describe it is it sounds like a con rod bashing around the cylinder.
my zxr 750 sounded the same when the cct went though... the shells where knackered.
I'm thinking a trip to a mechanics is a bit overdue mate, noises like that can only make things worse.
I know it's always nice to try and sort things yourself but the longer you leave it the more damage you might be doing.

Depends on your situation. If you've got a bit of time sure you might as well strip it and see what's going on inside. You could get a used head and cams cheap enough if that's the problem or if you need it for everyday transport and you don't have the time to fix it maybe go down the replacement engine route, they're fairly reasonably priced you might even get one on here.
Bottom end is dead.
New bottom end it is!
The most common reason for the crank going on a fazer is that it has been down the road on it side with the engine revving high before the fuel runs out.
Who knows what happened to it, nevermind atleast ill have peace of mind once its done
Are you going to fit another engine? Repairing it is a very expensive option.
I was going to fit a new bottom end as theres like 5000 on ebay for <£90
but a guy not far from me has an 03 fzs engine with only 23k miles fsh and valves just been done for £250.
for peace of mind i think im going to replace the whole engine, my fzs is currently on its 2nd engine with unknown mileage so the top end may well be almost dead too.
Im slightly nervous about doing it though, ive done full rebuilds on single cylinders and even truck engines but never done a big bike engine, i blew the bottom end on my old zxr 750 and got as far as the cylinder head off to inspect and gave up.
I do have a friend whos helping me do it, hes a god of bikes but hopefully this isn't too hard to swap over.
Finaly got round to getting engine on its way, will be here saturday so i will be doing the engine change then....
Worrying like mad about the exhaust studs though!
