I went to get in my car yesterday and as I opened the door the heat hit me. I thought it would be a good idea to start it up and let the air con cool it a bit first. Never noticed I'd left it in gear. As the car kurched forward the engine caught and off it went leaving me standing in my driveway. Lucky for me and the guy with the new Mercedes opposite my house a mature Oak tree stopped my car in its tracks ![[Image: ha7udeba.jpg]](http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/28/ha7udeba.jpg)

Really gutted for you fella, doesn't look like a cheap fix.
But as you said, could've been more expensive if it had smacked the Merc.
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.
OOOH the dreaded Merc rises once again
Women have chocolate men have bikes.....
including ones who like chocolate....
Damn!!
I had a 520i a coupla years back, I bloody loved that motor, so much car for the money, but I knew as soon as I had a 500 plus quid bill for it for anything it wouldn't be worth keeping any more
Classic Brain fart!
Some say...
Focs sake. :eek
Yup we all do dumb stuff now and again.
Diffo an oh shit moment, be thankful though no one was hurt.
MT-09 Tracer for those who no longer can handle a BIG boy Fazer

Could be worse bud. My mrs' ex fitted a remote starter button in the engine bay of his van. He tried it out with it left in first gear, it fired up, shot forward and pinned him against the garage wall, breaking his arm. :rolleyes
Broken, bruised, forgotten, sore,
too fucked up to care any more.
:rollin
I mean sorry, but really... (Mr remote starter, not mickey) what did he want that for anyway?
Still I suppose we've all done stupid things, just that most of us get away with them!

Thing is, you don't actually have to tell everyone about it :lol
I've never done anything even as remotely silly as that in my life :tape
I'm still laughing at my own stupidity.
Just so pleased no kids were playing nearby as normally loads are about as its a nice little Cul-de-sac and stupid car drivers are in short supply (for once)

p.s. Just had the dents checked by my MOT garage and they're nothing to worry about so i won't

Remote start button. Years ago, all cars had them as the centre part of the solenoid could be pushed to engage the starter motor.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
I loved the remote starter buttons on my Golf, albeit they were out of necessity since the ignition barrel had stopped working...
But yes... we all do stupid things... there's a reason why my friends and family shudder every time I mention working on my bike...

You are so right Ogri, the engine is a peach. 160,000 on the clock and it still go's like stink. It is a heavy car but go's like a train when pushed. My daughters fella has a Boxster and was surprised as my old bus flew past him on a trip to Devon earlier this year.

I'd take your dented Beamer over a Boxster any day ^^
Looking at an E39 or E34 540i as my next project car
Looking on the bright side, at least you know the starter motor and battery are all working well :\ .
