Hi from Sandy, Bedfordshire

Hello all, thought I'd join up as I ride a 2008 FZ1-S, and will look to share my experiences/learn from yours whilst owning this fantastic bike. I will upload pics in due course however stuff I've done so far is reflashed ECU, braided lines front and rear, aftermarket levers, pipercross filter, de-catted mid pipe, modified link pipe to retain exup valve for my Remus hexacone carbon zorst, and sprocket change 16/47. Think thats about it!  Look forward to chatting to fellow Yammie owners!

Greetings mr sea bass...hows tricks............looks like you've done a fair few mods so far & must know a little bit about the FZ1......i know foc all about them really as i only had mine a couple months but i do know that it is stonkingly fast 8)

Ive been a jibberer on the 600 forum for a couple years & ive had a shed load of help........im pretty sure you'll get the same on here with the thou forum although i suspect theres the tendency for the thous to feel like they should know better & are far too senior to ask for help on some subjects sometimes maybe Wink .

For example......you have no mention of a power commander but you say reflashed ecu...is that the same thing, does a pc instantly reflash the ecu or can they both be done........is the decat as simple as just scraping out the i sides or is it obvious from looking outside too?......plus why did you want to keep the exup....i have heard on good authority that the exup on the fz1 is purely for noise only and not for performance as with the fzs1000.

Oh so many questions ha ha.......feel free to ignore them......but welcome to the nut house :b

There she be! Yo noggeythenog, thanks for the welcome. I basically went down the ECU remap route as after researching both routes, and hoping to keep the Yam for a good while, I decided the ECU remap route was the best way forward. I believe the ECU in modern bikes such as the FZ1 offer more in terms of adjustability, and ensuringvthe bike runs at its optimal performance. I'm by no means a whizz kid in thiz area, although after much research, and speaking to a guy who had his ECU remapped over in the states on the other forum, I decided to give it a go. I will try and pisf up the link of my experience on here! By gojbg down this route I do not need a PC, and the ECU can do everything a PC can and then some. Only downside is when comjng to sell the bike I will be selling it with the flash too, although it will only make the bike sell easier.  With the sprocket changes in addition to the ECU remap, it performs how Yamaha should have made it! I am on the lookout for an aftermarket shock though, although it appears I'll be waiting a while for one at a decent price, may just have to stump up the cash for a new one, nevermind it'll make the bike that much sweeter!

Oh and I kept the exup on the advice of the guy that did the remap, he did explain the science behind it, although it kind of went over my head, something to do with back pressure and resonance or something! I cant think why Yamaha would invest the time effort and money for something that regulates noise!  Surely there would be a cheapeelr easier alternative?  Anywho all I can say is the low down torque has been vastly improved, acceleration is mental, and there is a significant difference from stock. Let me see if I can find the link dude...
