6th gear
#1
Hi all

Bought a Fazer 600 from a friend that won't stay in top gear. Is this a common fault or not?
I can select the gear ok but when I feed in the power it jumps out.
Is it possible to remove the gearbox without splitting the cases?
Does anyone have an idea as to what this might be????
Thanks in advance

Hi Steve,

Clutch and gearbox certainly DO NOT require case splitting!

Your man to talk to is Deefer - he is the God of Fazer 600s, and runs a garage in Molesworth.

Where are you based?

I've not heard of 6th being a problem, 2nd is the Fazer's usual weak spot.If the selector arm is the cause, then it can be changed without splitting the cases.
Deefer's description is here.
I doubt you can change the cogs themselves the same way. Though, as it's something I may need to do, I'll be happy to be told I'm wrong (by someone who's done it). :lol

I have never seen one with a 6th gear problem, I would whip the sump off and have a good look in there. But then it may well be a selector problem, but it could well be something as simple as a broken peg on the end of the selector drum under the clutch basket.

I would happily take a look if you don't feel confident
