finally the motorcycle world has woken up!!
#1
i'm not talking about the fact the roads are dry, but to the notion that 'perceived' value and actual value are 2 very different things.
i have been looking at a second...........okay 5th bike and a hankering to be a charlie or rebel without a cause.
the 1150GS's are struggling to make £3k and  >05 883's aren;t making £4k
the stealers are still asking silly money but private buyers are having to suck it up because either they sell at the buyers offer or they're stuck with a bike.
right, where's my tassled jacket gone.................
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

Loads of good secondhand stuff about now mate. It seems a lot of blokes are getting new bikes on them pop schemes. Myself I'd much rather have an old tech clean secondhander that I owned for the same money some are putting down as a deposit on a bike they will never own, but each to their own.

Good job those folks exist Ogri, or we'd not have any 2nd hand ones to pick up for a song  Wink

I bought my FZS600 brand new (had a windfall), but have said ever since that I wouldn't buy new again. The Tiger came 2nd hand, a year old, and as good as new, at a £2k saving.

But I am starting to think I'll buy the updated 800XC, when that comes out next year...

So because Beemer & Hardley owners have now reacted to market forces & are now at more realistic resale prices in relation to others the motorcycle world has woken up .  :\  You've been specific with your choice of makes in your post so why such an all encompassing statement.
Beemers & Hardleys have always had higher residual values than most other makes so the fact that they've dropped to level out with others is nothing to do with the bike world being in denial but more that those marques have found their true level in this economic climate.
