email hacking
#1
Is anyone who uses the forum having problems with there personal email accounts being hacked, as in if you use yahoo.co.uk
I am over this past few weeks being hacked. I am not saying it is via this site but just a general question and trying to narrow possible sites down.

It helps if you have a different password for each site you use, of course this is what I do, but then have to write them all down so I can remember them?

Absolutely, although I tend to have a different password for each important financial websites like banking, ebay etc, then have a few common passwords between 'social' forums like this one. If hackers break into a forum like this (not suggesting they have) and get everyones password and email address they can try that combination with any website where they think they can commit fraud.

I use this http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/ to store my different passwords, I thought everyone got rid of pens and paper 15 years ago?

Spam gets sent from your email address to people in your contacts list.

You will know when your friends ask why you are looking for money or your account password is changed and you did not change it. :lol
Accounts get hacked for many reasons:
Lack of a secure password (most common) People use common names which are easily hacked. Most secure are Alpha Numeric with keyboard symbols. Password should really contain Capitals letters, lower case letters, number and symbols.
E.g. if you want to use YamahaFazer1000 as a password then vary it to something like this (Y@mahaF&zer1ooo) including the brackets this makes it very difficult to hack Smile
Trojan or virus on you PC :'(
