Hi all,
Planning a first oil change at the weekend and was wondering what grade and brand is favourite? I've had a couple of thumpers over the last few years and always used Motul 10/40 but not sure if any good for my Fazer thou. Also, fully or semi synth?
Cheers!
If using Motul, either go for full synth, like 7100 (no need for the expensive 300V). If going semi-synth, avoid Motul (the 5100), get some other brand, e.g. Silkolene, Bel Ray etc. 5100 costs more than it is worth IMO, or Serbia gets a bad batch of it.

Can of worms, but I'll bite.
Fully synth will not harm your engine, or clutch in any way. It will cost more - some 30 % more than semi synth.
Benefits are better cold start protection, less gum and dirt formations inside the engine and even some
minimal fuel savings (up to 1%, but at 10.000 km change interval it will cover the price difference between semi and full synth). I put full synth in all the vehicles I (and some friends) use. Old seals that are due for a change could show leaking. That has been the only "downside" by now.

ive always used Castrol 10/30, the gearshift seems a lot smoother,
the night i was born, lord the moon stood a fire red., my poor mother her crying,
she said the gypsy was right, and she fell right dead
I've gone for Castrol Power 1 10W40, see how that goes.
Thanks for the input
I changed my oil with Halfords own
Havent noticed any difference
Hasnt burnt off into oblivion or gone on fire
Fraction of the price
I suppose it's the same old story......most fresh oil is better than no oil......or scabby never been changed oil.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
