Depends on the bike, fazer thou mirrors are a good fix for a 600.
Mirrors on a thou can be modified, there is a thread.

The left mirror on my naked is only useful if I want to look at my arms and elbows. My right mirror is slightly more useful because I can see the road in that one if I duck down a bit :lol

You're right, they are cojones grande. Changing mirrors is something I want to do as well, although I have kind of got used to them -- I have to lean my head over to one side to get a better view behind me.
Just had a thought: I wonder if it's possible to fit a rear view camera and have a little screen mounted on the handlebars? Would be handy for reversing and avoiding black recycling boxes.

On the FZS600 boxeye (shown as your main bike) I also found the standard mirrors not good. i.e. half filled with arm and shoulder and needing to shift position for a decent view behind. Some folks seem to find them o.k. though. I found the mirrors from a FZS600 foxeye (2002-2003) to be very much better, although they stick out a bit more. I've never found that a problem, but if you go in for ultra close filtering you might have to allow another inch. Fazer thou mirrors as mentioned by Ian-man (FZS1000) are the same mirror.
The Yamaha part number is 5LV-26280-00 for left and 5LV-26290-00 for right. After market ones easily available if you don't like the new original Yamaha prices :eek . Just be aware the mounting studs on these mirrors are 5 or 6mm longer so you "might" need to fit a washer under the original domed fixing nuts.

Once sold a pair of standard Box eye mirrors to an owner who'd converted to the longer stemmed mirrors and found they vibrated too much - anybody had a similar problem?

I know they're not brilliant, but i'm 6 foot tall and i can see over 70% of my mirrors, so they're not what i'd call useless.
Maybe i have small elbows? ![]()

Thanks for all your replies
I am pleased to see that there are alternatives. All I ever get no matter how I adjust them is 80% full of elbow - and 20% normal view. In fact I could say that about most of the bikes I have owned over the last 35 years. Bring back the big round mirrors on long thin stalks I say........ :lol

Maybe an elbow reduction on the N A Chess is what you need? :lol

I see an opportunity to post a few photo's here.
First with standard mirrors and then a couple of shots with longer Foxeye type mirrors. [smg id=1477] [smg id=1478] [smg id=1479] O.K. maybe not to every bodys taste and not always needed, but if you can't see behind then this is one way to solve it. Can't say I've noticed much vibration but obviously some have. Maybe I should up my pace a bit :evil .

Changing the mirrors was one of the first things I did. The ones I ordered were from Singapore. They are quite good quality and work very well. No vibration issues and they look better than the originals in my opinion.
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...
