BMW S1000R V KTM 1290R

This is the comparison test I'm waiting for.  The Beemer even in top spec is £3000 cheaper.so it'll be affordable for me about 5 years earlier than the KTM?

This one? Visordown say it might not be totally genuine but it's the only one I can find.

too fucked up to care any more.

A proper comparison to make would be between the new BMW 1000 R, not the RR, and the KTM - both nakeds. But even so, that makes the KTM look pretty good. The KTM also looks better than the BM imo. I'll have to wait to read a full and proper road test, but the BMW is not capturing my imagination like the KTM did - immediately.
If you've got the cash to spare, you are really spoilt for choice these days though; that can only be a good thing? Although of course, it would be even better if we were spoilt for choice in the price bracket of the MT-09.....

Ok, so this is going to be the big giant-test of the 2014 bike press:

KTM 1290 SDR
BMW S1000R
Ducati Monster 1200S
New Kawasaki Z1000.

What a pity Yamaha haven't got a litre-plus version of the MT-09 to throw into the mix!

In the video the BMW doesn't use all the rev range except when it blasts past, plus I think the rider on the KTM might be Jeremy McWilliams.

Most racers would blast past us mere mortals even riding a scooter  Smile

Everything about the KTM is wonderful but I kinda would prefer to stick to a 1000cc. It does grate with me tge need to keep getting bigger engines.  By 2025 WSB Ducati's will be 2.0 litre. The only way to keep ahead of the 4cylinder 1500 GSXR's

I don't quite understand that. What does it matter if the engine is 1200, or even 2 litre, if the bike is light and manageable, and doesn't have stupid fuel consumption?

You're right Nick. I just find everything seems to be getting bigger.  Including my waist.

That's why the engines are getting bigger need the extra torque to pull those extra inches of waist around :rollin

You are so  right. I'll stop complaining.

Does anyone have some Leather stretcher? I need something to gently expand my one piece leathers. Or should i just bite the bullet and my some new and improved bigger ones?
