Yeah, I agree, too distracting. It's too much in the line of vision all the time. With mirrors I can look when I need to. It could be said that this does not take your eyes from the road - I would disagree. Apache helicopter pilots learn to use each eye independently and process and utilise information from each simultaneously. That is not a skill they take to training with them, it has to be learned, and not everyone can master it. Us normal folks can either be looking at where we're going, or at this "HUD". It is not a skill I would wish to learn for riding a motorcycle - the less I have to take my eyes from what's ahead, the better. Staying with the HUD analogy, this is something that crops up in discussion now and again in relation to road use. In aircraft it's one thing, but on the road there is generally a lot more going on all around in close proximity.
Even this limited rear view screen reduces forward visibility also - creates a blind spot. Helmet manufacturers are always saying how they've increased the field of vision with wider visor apertures - why then start to fill it up again with this stuff?
My personal view is that even many of the informational displays we have on both cars and bikes today are too much for the average driver/rider. It would be better if most of it was not accessible while the vehicle is in motion.

Scores 10/10 on the cool factor but I'm not sure about the real world use.

The rear view screen isn't too bad IMO, as I'm checking my mirrors every few seconds anyway, and you take your eye off the road for that momentarily.

The music and phone calls I can live without as I ride to get away from other people, not to chat with them.

The sat-nav, yeah I can see that would be better than a dash mounted kit I reckon.

The interactive voice? Voice alerts for rain etc. I can see helping, same with the sat-nav voice.
It would have the added bonus that you'd feel like Iron Man!

I think its awesome - seems like pretty good kit and software. I have no problem with having HUD information being displayed providing you have some control over opacity - but I imagine as stock it should be fine. For the average rider... maybe its too much? But I'm not an average rider

Music is unlikely to be used, unless I'm doing long motorway segments (which is rare) but phone calls can be useful as I occasionally sneak out on a work day and have been caught out before GPS is great, rear view could certainly be useful and I don't think it will get in the way

I like them, I'd get one if they weren't so expensive!! Oh, an available already...  :rolleyes I'm pretty sure it's still in prototype stage.

Several similar systems have been out for a while now, and none (as far as I'm aware) are in production yet.

Stuff I would find useful:
1) Speed. When you're in traffic, having your speed, RPMs etc in a HUD would mean you don't take your eyes off the road
2) Satnav. Same reasons as speed
3) Track days. It stands to reason that you could probably upload a track map, to give you the best lines with optimal braking and acceleration zones, like in GT4.
4) I'm a sucker for technology?  :lol :lol

I've used heads up equipment at work, it's not really something you would stare into, you would just subconsciously glance at it when necessary.
I think it could be very useful in certain situations, as long as you don't start streaming films through it.

my problem is that i need glasses for close work (reading + computer screens) but my eyes are fine from speedo or longer distance so I couldn't focus on it anyway!!!
