Has anyone knowingly exceeded the maximum loading for their bike (Fazer or other) and had handling/safety issues. I'm sure people 2 up touring must have come across this in the past.
Reason for asking is simple - the maximum loading for my Tiger is 190Kg. I weigh 110Kg & my mate weighs 103Kg. Allowing for 7.5Kg of gear each that's 227Kg.
I'm doing the Reading Toy Run this year and my mate (non rider) is desperate to go. It's all lowish (40mph max) speeds and a distance of say 15 miles in total.
With the above in mind (40Kg over)....would you do it???
Cheers in advance :thumbup
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.
If the speeds are going to be low as you say, and you are happy about handling the bike with his weight on the back, I'd say it'd be fine. Bump up the rear preload a bit if you think it might need it, although for 15 miles or so, it's probably not that big a deal. I've had some stupid weights on the back of bikes before (including a mate who was 6' 4'' and heavy with it, on the back of an RG500 before :eek His knees were up round my ears, and the rear shock was nearly bottomed out, front wheel barely skimming the tarmac - not to be recommended, but the madness of youth and all that... :lol ). I've never paid that close attention to exact load, as long as I'm happy with how it feels on the bike.
