FOC-U Bike Picture Challenge
nice one deadeye......is it a county boundry though  :rolleyes ............5 miles from suspension bridge and my bikes at home...bugger.......will try tonight but might be too late  :\ ...good local one for you deadeye, cant answer your own challenge though  :lol
One, is never going to be enough.....
Wo wo wo  go back a bit Im sure the intent was counties ie Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire and not the sign down the road between city and county
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
This is a county border between Bristol County and South Gloucestershire County - they are two distinct counties but the border is within the confines of Bristol CITY

Pretty sure its valid... but looks like its to be put to a vote...

Also, literally about 200 yards up the road is the matching South Gloucestershire County signpost but Google for some reason has gotten that close... http://goo.gl/maps/6RW6P

That's what I learnt today - Bristol is unusual (unique?) in being a county as well as city.

Gets my vote...
Yup - it was formed after Avon County was disbanded over a decade ago

Over a decade ago? Bristol was granted County status in 1373....
you got my vote deadeye for doing your homework  Wink ....and for keeping everyone busy checking it until i sneak out tonight and get the bridge shot  :lol
One, is never going to be enough.....
Yeah... I'm not entirely sure how that worked when Avon was around if I'm honest. Avon as a county was abolished in 1996

According to Wikipedia (so it must be right, eh?) bristol County is a ceremonial one (presumably as opposed to an administrative one) so could happily exist alongside Avon/Somerset /Glos...?
Sounds about right - I think it has Administrative clout now though? In any case, it was a County border hahaha Tongue

Should have taken a photo of the South Glos sign Tongue

Ah good old Wikipedia. I once read that Steven Seagull had been murdered by his best friend with an axe a while ago but oddly enough he's brought out a film or two since Tongue>Big Grin
With the state of his acting, would it make any difference if he was dead?

Rats! Passed 2 Gloucestershire ones today but thought someone's bound to have beaten me to it by the time I get home, so didn't stop for photies.  :\
It gets really complicated when you get to Bath, its a city and has its own county made for it as well, BANES, Bath and North East Somerset.

Lol! I was just wondering if the "City and County of Bristol" sign was still in place next to Ashton Gate.

The Council deliberately put of them up in 1974 when Bristol's Charter (defining it as a County) was withdrawn, one year after we'd celebrated 600 years of being a City and a County Sad
