that feeling of 'oneness'

Just been out exploring on the bike for a few hours this afternoon.  Back roads to Thetford forest then dirt tracks (byways) through the heathland and woods, getting covered in mud and totally lost. Eventually found a road and headed back home through town, plastered in mud and grinning like a lunatic as I carved through all the people in tin cans doing the rush hour grind lol!

Sometimes, if you are really lucky you find a bike that you just 'gel' with, and I reckon I've found mine.... (and it isnt a fazer lol)

Fair play to you getting out in the dirt, at least you didn't have to worry about the usual eedgits on the roads & it sounds like proper freedom. 8)

I have one like that too, it's a Giant Anthem X1 29er. Almost perfect, almost.

ah, if only i had the money. i'm currently working on the basics of a streetfighter using a gsxr400 frame with a big single in it. i've seen a few off-road style versions and i'm considering doing one of my own. more dual purpose than proper trailie.

Sounds like fun

that one is definitely a dual-sport rather than a full on dirt bike. It uses the new cbr250 engine to keep the service intervals down. Every 6000 miles rather than every few hours like some dirt machines! Perfect for me really cos I use it to commute to work a lot, it gets used 80/20 tarmac/dirt. Stage 1 tuned so it goes well for a 250, but I have the 305cc big bore kit coming for it soon

Good post Jon, deffo what it's all about. I get the same kicks in Norfolk on me fz1, I think after a lifetime of bikes( passed my test in 77), it's the best bike I've ever owned. If only I was 17 again...lol.
My mate kelv in warboys has bought a crf, he's modded the stock exhaust but still wants a bit more kick, is there a airbox or flapper mod I can do for him? Going over to look at it tomorrow..

Take out the rubber snorkel on the airbox, remove the wire mesh spark arrestor and drill a couple of big holes in the top of the box (dont worry, a new box is only a couple of quid), makes all the difference. The ejk is probably the best mod for this bike, about $100ish from crfs only. As stock they are severely choked up and need to breathe better.

(All mods done at your own risk etc etc, just cos im stupid enough to do it doesnt mean its right lol)
