No !!!
Its a job to see if it is tee'd into the heating pipe or goes up behind it.
It is not big enough for an expansion vessel.Could be a seperator to give expansion and cold fill without short circulating.

Hard to judge from that angle and you could do with a decent camera... there are some available with more than a 100,000 pixels these days. :lol
If that pipe coming out of the top goes to the expansion tank in the loft (arching over the top with the end not submerged), then it may be a device to help separate air/gas from the liquid.

Anyhow, the lot has to go. We want a combi fitted asap. I'm just trying to work out what is there first so I know what I'll need to do when we get the keys and move in. At the moment I have limited info - a couple of photo's, so it's a lot of guess work.
