FZ1 (2009) rear suspension linkage bearings
#1
I've got quite a bit of movement in the rear linkages (ie about 6mm when lifting the rear wheel...only done 17,00 miles - must be the poor roads and pavements....okay I should have stripped and greased them on a bit more often).

Marc at Marksman (v helpful and supplied the bearings for the rear wheel £44 v £120 from Yam) has been able to identify the bearings in the Al linkage/dog arm but has anyone any idea what the other ones are:
The needle bearing under the swing arm
The bearing in the lower end of the shock (rose joint?)

Also any tips on how to remove the one under the SA? Looks like the shock top bolt is a 'mare to remove.....
Many thx

Tues24 Sept - think all sorted, local Yam dealer is supplying bits that I can't measure until it's all apart. Think fitting the bearing under the swing arm will need to be put in the freezer before v careful pressing in. Not sure about the shock bearing - the micro fiche shows just a sleeve...
Good news is that the Yam dealer thought at worse the current movement would get an advisory, so should be ok even just doing the linkages.

I bloody hope that the £44 was including fitting? You can get wheel bearings for about a fiver off ebay, decent ones too!

Rear wheel bearings consist of two ball bearings, so not much cost there, but also a long thin walled needle race on the inner sprocket side and that's where the cost is - have to be careful removing and fitting it.....

Have changed the linkage bearings and seals etc but just greased the under swing arm needle as not sure if I will be able to get the new one back in cleanly on the bike. Going to wait until I take the swing arm out to grease its bearings and will do it then. Vertical play in the wheel is now about 4mm.

The lower shock bearing is a needle - similar size to the other ones. Don't understand why it's not a rose joint to take any lateral movement - Yamaha are a bit odd like this  - the rest of the bike is 98% brilliant and is let down by the odd design flaw. Still pays yer money and takes yer choice etc etc!!!
